Vacation Rental Description
Very large modern family villas located in the Natural Reserve of the river Sado in Herdade do Montalvo, a private condominium spread over 1,000 hectares. This beautiful estate has extensive cycle paths and walks, and borders the Sado river for 600 metres. There is a small supermarket and the condominium has excellent security. Both villas are large and well set out.
On the ground floor of both villas there is a huge living area with two large sofas and seating for 12, a dining area which can seat 10 comfortably; a cosy fireplace takes the chill off colder winter days. The modern kitchen is spacious and well equipped, and has a separate breakfast area. The living room opens via the terrace to the pool and garden. The terrace has outdoor furniture and is a lovely location for outdoor meals.
A double bedroom with its en-suite shower room is also situated on the ground floor. The twin bedroom is up a small flight of stairs and close to a large bathroom. The master bedroom, with its large double bed, has an en-suite bathroom with bath, sink, bidet and lavatory.
The loft has been converted into a large studio, a lovely open space with two double sofas.
Past the terrace of both villas, the large 10m*5m swimming pool is located. Sun loungers are provided. Please note the area round the swimming pool is paved however the lawn has been replanted and is currently growing.
The villas have their own drive for private parking.
Close to Alcácer do Sal, 70km South East of Lisbon, which boasts a castle recently restored from Moorish ruins on a promontory dominating the peaceful valley of the River Sado. In Roman times the small town was an important centre for harvesting salt and there is a record of a fort existing as early as the 6th century BC. The area is also well known for its vast variety of birds and its many stork nests. We also recommend that you visit the Rice Museum at Comporta and the village of Torrão.
To the South is the town of Sines, known for its important port. Its beautiful, well preserved castle overlooks the narrow streets of the old centre. Sines also has several small sandy beaches, with panoramic views of the west coast. Also to the South is Santiago do Cacém, a lovely town full of character well worth a visit. To the north is Setúbal, known for its delicious fresh fish.
And of course Lisbon is an easy day trip, reached in less than an hour on the motorway.
