Vacation Rental Description
This Grand Apartment is on the main, first floor Piano Nobile in the 15th century Palazzo Michiel Berlendis. The apartment consists of several large rooms, with original frescoes and decoration from the 18th century. There is a lush, enormous Garden below, for guests' Private use. An impressive grapevine-shaded Terrace overlooks the garden and long grape arbor, which produces up to 75 liters of wine. (The garden and the terrace are featured in the book, VENETIAN GARDENS by Mariagrazia Dammicco, published by Flammarion, pp. 102-107.) There is a new kitchen overlooking the very large, private main entrance courtyard, accessed from the Santa Margherita Canal. The two spacious, elegantly furnished main rooms feature frescoes on the walls of one room and a frescoed ceiling in the other. There are long, large French-style windows in the two main rooms, more windows on the other 3 sides. It's gloriously light-filled. The Gardens feature fig trees, camellias, lemons, plums, magnolia magniflora, grapes, flowers and a charming fountain. The main bedroom is air conditioned. The dining room also has a working fireplace. The property is very peaceful and quiet, the only sounds being the birds in the garden. The nearby Campo Santa Margherita is lively, fun, young and filled with daily fruit, vegetable, and fish stalls. as well as a local wine shop, 7 caffes, 3 restaurants, excellent supermarket. The area is very local/Venetian, with almost no tourists, located off the beaten tourist track, near the Frari, San Rocco and Carmini Churches and also the University of Venice. 
 
The minimum stay is 2 weeks.  
 
Very close to Vaporetto boat transport on the Grand Canal, within 5 minutes and also the Giudecca Canal, 10 minutes. Marco Polo Airport (20 minutes.) and the Mainland (5 minutes) are very easily and conveniently reached. 
 
A very fine cook can be occasionally arranged separately.

    • The tennis, horse riding and golf are located on the separate Lido Island, the main Beach in Venice. Skiing and Snowboarding are about 2 hours from Venice, in Cortina or elsewhere in the Dolomites. Boating can be arranged with one of the several boating clubs in the city. The great, famous La Fenice Opera House has been restored brilliantly. Many Verdi operas were premiered here. The Venice Symphony also performs at La Fenice. There is also an excellent Chamber Music series and a beautiful concert hall for French Romantic Music in the nearby Palazzo Bru-Sane. Many churces host young orchestras and singers. There are many festivals during the year, the most famous of which are The Biennale of art or of architecture beginning in June until November, and the Venice Film Festival in September.
