Right opposite the park of Villa Groggia in the "sestiere" of Cannaregio, one of the liveliest and most picturesque neighborhoods in Venice, Ca' dei Mori is a delightful apartment for 4/6 persons on the first [upstairs] floor of a typical little three-story Venetian house. The quiet location and its closeness to the park and to the water bus stop make it ideal for a truly relaxing vacation. Airy and full of light and sun, Ca' dei Mori was completely remodeled and redecorated in 2006.
It is composed of a large living room with double sofa-bed, a modern kitchen, a spacious bedroom, a smaller room with two bunk beds, and a bathroom with shower, and can comfortably accommodate up to 6 persons.
All the beds at Ca' dei Mori self-catering apartment are freshly laundered and made-up for your stay – just what you need at the end of your journey. In the bunk bed and double bedded rooms, the beds are prepared with sheets, blankets (quilts in winter), pillows and pillowcases. Additional blankets and pillows are available. Both sides of the double bed have reading lights and cabinets. Also the bunk beds are provided with reading lights. A brand new baby cot is vailable if needed. All rooms are fitted with wardrobes, with plenty of hanging space, shelving and drawers. The rooms feature parquet flooring and are well climatized to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
The apartment is equipped with air conditioning, dishwasher, washing machine, traditional and microwave ovens, color TV, kitchen utensils, bath and kitchen towels, table and bed linen.
Ca' dei Mori is in the Cannaregio neighborhood, near Campo Sant' Alvise. The architectural composition of this pleasantly secluded area of the city makes it one of the quietest and most romantic places in all Venice. The stop of the vaporetto no. 42 for the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello and the no. 52 for the Venice Lido and Saint Mark's square is just a few steps from the apartment. The lush shade of the park of Villa Groggia and the sports center with public swimming-pool is just across the street.
In the small square ["campo"] itself, you will find the Gothic church of Sant' Alvise, with two large paintings by Tiepolo.
A 5 minute stroll along the canal will bring you to another outstanding example of Gothic architecture, the church of the Madonna dell'Orto, with three vast paintings by Jacopo Tintoretto. The painter lived right here, on the Fondamenta dei Mori, across the canal from Palazzo Mastelli, also called Palazzo "of the Camel" from the charming relief on its façade of a man leading a camel.
Three statues embedded in the wall, portraits of three mercantile brothers from the Morea - the so-called "Mori" - give the Campo its name. Crossing the bridge of the Malvasia, you find yourself on the Fondamenta degli Ormesini: this long street beside the canal ["fondamenta"] has become a hot spot of Venetian life in recent years. Here you will find a whole series of ethnic restaurants and, with its Venetian cuisine and live music, "Paradiso Perduto" is one of the most popular meeting places in the entire city.
Continuing our little tour in the direction of the railway station, we come to the bridge of the Ghetto Nuovo and enter the neighborhood that in the year 1527 took in all the Jews of the city, and where you will find no less than five sixteenth-century synagogues.
Five minutes from the Ghetto, the historic Palazzo Vendramin Calergi now hosts the Casino, for those who wish to try their luck at the gaming table. From here, less than 10 minutes on the vaporetto will take you to the Rialto Bridge with its picturesque fish market, from which - following the "Mercerie," heart of the Venetian shopping district - you may go on to Saint Mark's square.

"After a very difficult journey to Venice with a 4 hour delay on our train we really appreciated how warm clean and welcoming the appartment was. The added touch of the little Christmas tree and decorations was just perfect. The appartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and for cooking our own meals in the evening. The kitchen is superb with plenty of storage space and a huge fridge freezer. We visited the whole of Venice by foot from the appartment though there is a vaperetto stop just nearby. Although it is just 10 mins by foot to the Grand Canal it is in a very peaceful part of the city with a park just next door. The only problem we had was that the mosquito net prevented us from closing the shutter in our bedroom and the bathroom door was difficult to close. I assume these were repaired after we left."

"This flat is full of light, has high ceilings, a very good heating system and lots of cupboard space. For a long winter stay (12 days), we were absolutly pleased with our choice. We found the location very convenient, with several vaporetti lines to get quickly anywhere in Venice whenever we decided not to walk. The owners, Sergio and Lina, gave us a warm welcome, and were always available when we needed an advice or some information."

"When we (family of three) arrived in Cannaregio we were met as arranged beforehand without any problems. The flat was as described and was perfect for our needs. We found it clean and warm, comfortable and spacious. The area is quiet, we had no problems with the neighbours and slept excellently in the beds provided. Shopping for food is convenient, cooking was fun in the well-equipped kitchen which even has a fridge-freezer, and there are restaurants nearby for eating out. Discovering Venice was a joy, with the canal grande within easy walking distance and a vaporetto stop with good connections just a hundred yards away. Altogether we were delighted with our choice of accommodation and would gladly return next time we visit Venice."

"The location of the apartment beside (less than 100 m) the St. Alvise vaporetto stop is really fine. The apartment is like new and well equipped and the owner Sergio is really friendly and helpful. The surroundings is very peaceful, only birds and the church bell can disturb - they don´t! Summa summarum: One of the best apartments we have ever had = 5/5! Thank you Sergio, we´ll come again!"
