It feels like you are miles from anywhere, and yet Perugia is only 20 minutes away. When you approach La Terra del Nomade you realise how superb the location is – a tranquil and beautiful setting in which to unwind and recuperate from today's busy life. From a quiet country road you turn up a short 'strada bianca' winding uphill to the property, which has 360 degree views of rolling hills and fields, dotted with the occasional farmhouse. Once the home of Umbrian farmers, the buildings have been sympathetically renovated to conserve some of the original architectural elements while reinterpreting others in a more contemporary flavour.
La Terra del Nomade means the 'Land of the Nomad' which at first seems to be a contradiction given that a nomad by definition travels without attachment to any particular place. But the owner, a musician and artist, wants to provide a place where one is able to stop and rest along one's journey – to serve as a respite for mind, body and soul.
The property consists of the original farmhouse (parts dating back to the 15th century), now organised into three separate apartments, plus two outbuildings providing detached accommodation. A large (14 x 6 metre) swimming pool is located conveniently in the centre of the buildings, surrounded by 150 square metres of stone paved patio with chairs and loungers, mostly in the sun but there is also a covered area. The swimming pool has an unusual earth coloured coating which helps to integrate it well with the rural surroundings.
Internally the rooms are spacious and airy with stone or tiled floors, wooden beams and ceilings, stone walls in some rooms and many little artistic touches from niches containing urns and pots to making use of old doors and shutters as coffee tables and unusual bed heads. All the bathrooms are thoroughly modern with shower units (one apartment has a bath). The furniture is a comfortable mix of older and contemporary pieces, the decor simple and relaxing.
Discover Umbria's best known sites with Perugia only 20 minutes away and Assisi, Gubbio, Lago Trasimeno and Citta di Castello well under an hour. Even Sienna in Tuscany and the southern Umbrian towns of Todi and Orvieto are easy day trips.
When at La Terra del Nomade, simply enjoy the quiet, rural atmosphere and lovely views lounging by the pool. Upon request we can also organise individual or group meetings or lessons on singing, breathing and voice, ayurvedic and holistic massage, Reiki, NLP and also cooking lessons of local cuisine.
Casa is the largest living space at La Terra Nomade, at approximately 140 square metres, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, ideal for two couples or a family. Whilst perfect for 4, Casa can sleep 6 with the lounge sofa bed. he spacious lounge (7.2m x 4.5m) has a two seater settee (which makes into an extra double bed), 4 lounge chairs, a large cabinet and open fireplace.
The separate farmhouse style kitchen/dining room has a large table with 6 chairs plus a two seater wicker sofa. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven, 4 ring hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Both the lounge and kitchen/diner have lovely views of the surrounding countryside.
From the lounge a short flight of steps leads into a short corridor with two double bedrooms (each 5.0m x 3.5m) and two bathrooms. One bedroom has a double bed plus a single day bed with an en suite bathroom with shower. The other bedroom has a double bed and an adjacent bathroom with shower. Both bedrooms overlook the pool. The bathrooms are very modern with basin, toilet, bidet and shower unit.
For the cooler months, all units are centrally heated and Casa has an open fireplace.
