Casa Elceto is a farmhouse restored to the highest standards, set in the rolling hills of Umbria. The property is surrounded by countryside and gardens including an ancient Olive Grove. It is located approximately 3km from the Medieval hill-top village of Castel Rigone, which contains bars, a restaurant, small supermarket, pharmacy and hairdressers, and which is a 10 min drive to Lake Trasimeno. 
 
The farmhouse sits in nine acres of countryside and has been restored to the highest standard using traditional materials. The 12m x 6m pool has an infinity edge looking over the valley to the south-west. The property is totally secluded and private with access from the village of Castel Rigone 2.8km away via a country track. Inside, the house is fully furnished and extremely well equipped with everything required for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. Many of Italy's most beautiful towns such as Cortona, Arrezzo, Siena, Assissi etc are within easy driving distance. The local village of Castel Rigone is a typical Umbrian hill-top village of largely medieval stone houses with breathtaking views of Lake Trasimeno some eight km distant. The village contains basic amenities such as small supermarket, pharmacy and two bars. Nearby Passignano on the shores of Lake Trasimeno contains a range of excellent restaurants and there is a regular ferry service to the islands on the lake. 
 
The house sleeps six in two double rooms and one twin. Bedroom 1 has a king-size double bed and en-suite bathroom and external balcony, Bedroom 2 with king-size double bed, and Bedroom 3 with twin beds which can be joined to make a large double. The En-suite bathroom to bedroom 1 contains a shower, toilet and huge antique stone wash basin, and the separate Family bathroom has a cast iron bath, shower compartment, toilet and antique stone wash basin. On the ground floor there is a further bathroom with toilet, washbasin & shower. 
 
On the Ground Floor, the kitchen is superbly equipped with a range style cooker with gas hob and twin electric ovens, fridge, dishwasher, espresso machine, toaster. There is a full range of cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery as well as an extensive range of glassware. 
 
The living room has a large antique open fire, marble flagstone floor and heavy chestnut beams and terracotta tiles to the high ceiling. There are two leather settees, a range of subtle lighting and a hi-fi system. There is also a flat screen television and DVD Player however the TV is not yet connected to receive a TV signal. 
 
Outside there is an annexe with a further fridge/freezer, a built-in barbeque and wood fired bread oven. There is always an ample supply of logs. 
 
The pool is close to the house and outbuilding and is 2m deep at the deep end and 1.2 m deep at the shallow end. There is a superb uninterrupted view over the valley below and the hills opposite from the infinity edge. Care is needed with young children since the land falls away very steeply from the pool edge so could be potentially dangerous if anyone were to fall over the edge. 
 
Approximately 4 acres of the land are fenced off including the Olive Grove so there is plenty of space to wander around or find a peaceful spot to read or take an afternoon nap. 
 
At the end of the house facing the pool is a large verandah 7.5 m x 5 m with a patio made up of marble slabs reclaimed from Roman roads in Puglia. It is ideal for al-fresco dining both during the day and in the evening. The property is situated on a long ridge of land and so enjoys 360 degree views and sunshine throughout the day. 
 
The Supermarket in Castel Rigone is excellent for basics (including a good selection of wines and a very good delicatessen counter) and in common with most people in the village Marcello the owner and his family are extremely welcoming and helpful.  
 
Towels and linen are provided and changed for each new arrival.

    A deposit of £200.00 is required to secure the booking. In the event of cancellation more than 6 months before the booking start date the deposit is fully refundable. If the booking is cancelled within 1 month of the booking start date we ask for 50% of the total booking cost. Payment can be made by either cheque or bank transfer.
