Vacation Rental Description
The operating centre of the farmhouse is in an ancient rural house restructured in 2003, that incorporates a very old church (eleventh century). The farm carries out agro-tourism in four apartments of two double rooms with small kitchens, and in six double rooms; a total of 14 rooms to accommodate 30 people.
All the rooms have private bathrooms.
The structure is accessible for the disabled and two of the rooms are structured specifically.
The farm has a restaurant with seating for 56 people and two toilet facilities, one of which structured for the disabled.
A peculiar distinctive feature of the agro-tourism is the food. It is possible to savour the traditional food of Umbria and characteristic food of other Italian regions; all predominantly cooked using our own genuine produce: lambs, rabbits and chickens, cheeses, cereals, saffron and truffles.
All the produce of the farm is farmed naturally and organically.
"La Romita di Valle Fuino" carries out their activity of breeding lambs and producing cheese along with the production of lentils in Castelluccio, cereals, saffron and truffles in Civita, in a total of approximately four hundred hectares, in part surrounding the farmhouse and in part situated in the centre of the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains.
The farmhouse “La Romita di Valle Fuino” is located in Umbria in central Italy, at the point where the regions of Umbria, Lazio and Marche come together.
The farm land is located in two different mountainous areas; some between the ancient towns of Cascia and Norcia, and some are situated high up in the
mountains in an area that comprises the mountains of Vettore and Vettoretto and some of the land of the plateau of Castelluccio di Norcia.
Moreover, from the Romita, you can go easily get to:
- Cascia, in less than ten minutes
- Norcia, in about fifteen minutes
- Spoleto, in about forty minutes
- Ascoli Piceno, in approximately fifty minutes
- Rieti, in approximately fifty minutes
- Foligno, in approximately sixty minutes
- Visso, home of the National Park of Monti Sibillini in approximately sixty minutes
- Terni and the Falls of Marmore in approximately sixty minutes
- Assisi in approximately seventy minutes
- Perugia in approximately eighty minutes
The agro-tourism "La Romita di Valle Fuino" is an organic farm that produces agriculture and livestock typical of Umbria.
The farm’s main products are:
- Lentils from the soil of Castelluccio
- Spelt wheat and barley from the soil of Cascia and Castelluccio
- Saffron and truffles from the soil of Cascia
- lamb and hogget
Moreover, in small quantities:
- cheese, (natural or with saffron)
- Liqueur of saffron
- Jams and preserves
Our pastures are farmed naturally without any type of chemical fertilizer. When it snows, the sheep are put in the sheepfold and only fed hay and cereals produced organically.
