Vacation Rental Description
The Bed and Breakfast “Le Due Volpi”, is located near Molezzano (Vicchio), in the peaceful Mugello countryside, whose gently rolling hills have escaped the widespread development which has affected much of Tuscany. It lies about 35 km from Florence, 25 from Fiesole, 15 from Scarperia and 5 from Vicchio.
This location means that guests can simply enjoy peace and relaxation if they wish, but can also visit historic cultural centres or walk along the neighbouring hills, on the tracks marked out by the Italian Alpine Club. Or they might go riding at stables only a kilometre away, while golfers will enjoy playing on a course reputed to be one of the best in Europe at 15 kilometres’ distance.
Originally an old farmhouse, our house has three large double guest rooms, -- (Minerva, Superla, and Brionvega) – to reflect the owner’s passion for antique radios, with space for extra beds in two of the rooms. Each has its own bathroom and is furnished in traditional Tuscan style – uncomplicated but comfortable. Breakfast is served in the loggia during the summer or in front of the large fire place in winter.
The garden is available to our guests and then there is the swimming pool to cool off in – or you might wish to relax under the adjacent vine-covered pergola from where you can simply admire the view of the tranquil countryside, before falling asleep to the sound of cicadas in the trees.
In the house we try to follow a “green” life style, with solar panels, wood-fired central heating and energy-saving lighting and we use organically produced and local foods as much as possible.
Instead of eating at one of the many trattorie or ristoranti nearby, you can dine with Heidi and Lorenzo and enjoy genuine Tuscan food, though with a touch of international flavour about it. You can also order sandwiches or picnic food for your excursions and there may even be a wine-tasting to enjoy, at which Tuscan specialities – from the bottle and on the plate – will be served.
