Vacation Rental Description

Located 600m up in the Pratomagno and enjoying breathtaking views across the Val d'Arno towards Florence La Doccia is set in its own 70 acres of gardens, olive groves, wild flower meadows and oak woodland.

Now, La Doccia has been painstakingly restored to an extremely high standard whilst leaving the original structures largely unchanged. Many features remain such as stone staircases, a mixture of chestnut and terracotta ceilings and much of the original terracotta and brick flooring. Where it has been necessary to improve certain areas the same handmade or original materials have been used. La Doccia is open all year with double-glazing, external glass doors to all the main wooden doors and full central heating.

Every room at La Doccia contains an eclectic mixture of local handcrafted furniture made in the small mountain village of Tosi and our family antiques and furnishings brought here from England. Ours is a family home on a lovely small estate into which we invite you to enjoy yourselves in either one of our bedrooms on a bed and breakfast basis or in one of our apartments whilst staying in this timeless landscape.

We now offer three double bedrooms in the main house, each with en suite bathrooms made with handmade tiles.

We also have two large one bedroom apartments and a one bedroom bijou suite, ideal for honeymooners. We have a two bedroom apartment and two private one bedroom cottages. Each cottage or apartment has a private entrance and a private terrace while each bedroom has panoramic views west across the valley. There is a new 6m by 12m swimming pool on a lower terrace too.

In the relaxed atmosphere of a country house party, we like to feel our close attention to quality menus and outstanding wines gives our guests the best of Italy in a superlative setting. Cena, the Italian evening meal, is served either on the main terrace or in the La Doccia dining room where guests dine together at one table. Visit La Doccia Wine List.

Our evening meals are intended to be examples of the best home cuisine available here in Italy. Using only the freshest ingrediants available, we concentrate on producing a daily changing menu that looks not only to Tuscan recipes, but also to those of the many different parts of this country's varied food culture.

Edward normally cooks three or four times a week for guests and please let us know in advance.

We offer three bedrooms on a purely bed and breakfast basis, three one bedroom apartments in the main house, a two bedroom apartment and two independent one bedroom cottages about 50m from the main house. Each apartment has private access and a private terrace and all are set in mature landscaped gardens spread over a number of formerly farmed terraces and enjoying spectacular views and privacy. We are set in a private estate of 70 acres and surrounded by mature woodland offering a number of walks as well as mountain biking. You can rent La Doccia as a whole or any of the individual units, we have an honesty bar and server dinner by prior arrangement, with our speciality being our home grown produce cooked in a traditional Tuscan way. Reservation policy Reservations can be confirmed by payment by check/cheque to our bank - either in the UK or the USA - or pay payment via our secure online reservation system (VISA, MasterCard, AMEX). Once a reservation is confirmed with us (by telephone, fax or e-mail), we advise you of the address of the secure page to enter or the address of our bank depending on the payment method selected. Reservations made more than 3 months in advance of arrival, require a deposit of 50% with the balance due 45 days before arrival. Reservation made less than 3 months in advance of arrival need full prepayment at the time of booking.
