La Scala is an enchanting hilltop hideaway in Viano with spectacular views over the valley towards the mountains. This charming Tuscan village house has been converted and furnished in a style that retains much of its original character.

There is a well- stocked shop in the village where the fresh bread arrives each morning. On several days during the week various travelling shops park in the piazza and sell their fruit, vegetables, cold meats and cheeses. A greater selection of shops can be found in nearby Monzone (including a Bank) which is just 8 minutes drive away and there is a thermal swimming pool in Equi Terme.

The house is reached via the centuries old 'borgo' (street) and is entered directly into the kitchen/dining room furnished in the old style. This high beamed room has double doors leading to a large terrace that is the most prominent feature of this special little cottage. The views to the mountains and the villages in the valley below are stunning. The front of the terrace has sun all day and there is always shade at the back of the terrace.

From the kitchen there are stairs up to a pretty bedroom with en suite bathroom, and quite steep stairs down to the cosy low-beamed living room or second bedroom.

Viano is a very special village with a warmth and friendliness that is unsurpassed.

Equi Terme, just down the road, is a spa with natural hot water gushing out of the rocks. Treatments are available at the Spa centre.
There are also trips into the spectacular caves, inhabited in mesolithic times.
The ski resort of Cerreto is only half an hour up the road, with a lovely lake and splendid scenery all around.
Lunigiana boasts being the Land of 100 Lakes, and the Land of 100 Castles.
Just 40 minutes away is the old fishing port of Lerici, wih beaches and restaurants along the quai side. From here you can catch a boat to the famous Cinque Terre, old villages clinging to the cliffsides.
Lucca and Pisa are an hour away, and Florence 2 hours, by road or by train.

The bar in the village sells basic supplies. There are shops, banks , buses and a train station nearby. Also many good economical restaurants in the villages of Monzone and Equi Terme, which nestle in the valley below.
The old market town of Fivizzano is not far away and with its bars and trattorie around the piazza, is well worth a visit, especially to sample the ice cream.

In the event of cancellation by the client the following charges shall apply which will be payable by the client depending on the date upon which the cancellation is properly notified in writing:
Up to 70 days prior to the departure specified in the confirmation invoice the amount of the deposit.
Between 69 and 30 days prior to such departure date a charge of 70% of the full price.
Less than 29 days before such departure date, 100% of the full price.
