Built in the 1600's, this quaint old village house has been restored to retain its original features combined with all modern facilities in a most striking style.
I Cancelli, a spacious family house, has the convenience of being in this beautiful old village with all its amenities, and having views out across the hills. You can sit out quietly on the extensive private terrace or in the beautiful shady courtyard at the front. To the rear, there is a large (10mx5m) pool shared with the other houses.
After entering through the stone-flagged courtyard with its ancient pizza oven, the cosy downstairs sitting room with open fireplace leads through to two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower.
Upstairs, from the stylish living room, french windows lead out onto the large terrace with its gazebo - perfect for al fresco dining.. The main bedroom has an en suite luxury bathroom area in gorgeous blue tiles with a corner spa bath from which you gaze out across the valley. There are dramatic soaring beamed ceilings with stone walls throughout the upstairs.
The house has the enviable position of being on a south facing hillside in a small farming community with a shop, bar and restaurant a short stroll from the piazza. No cars pass by the house, only the cows!
A lovely family house but also suitable for just 2 persons using the upper floor only.
It is situated the 'forgotten' part of Tuscany known as Lunigiana. North of Pisa, it is a beautiful hilly area between the mountains and the sea. Wonderful walking country. Excellent inexpensive restaurants.
1 hour from airport (Pisa or Genoa). 40 minutes from sea. 1 hour to Lucca or Pisa. 2 hours to Florence - train available.
