Vacation Rental Description
Oliveto is set in hamlet in the hills above Bagnone. It is a cosy one bedroom apartment in which the kitchen/living room opens onto a wonderful wide covered terrace with spectacular views across the lush garden to the medieval castle in the next hill.
The beautiful garden is planted with a variety of fruit trees and other interesting plants, producing dappled shade on hot sunny days.
The apartment is equipped with tables and chairs for eating outside as well as sunloungers and a barbecue.
The friendly Italian owners run the vineyards and olive grove which stretches into the valley. and they generally invite clients to help themselves to the fruit and and vegetables that are growing in profusion all around.
The hamlet of Nola is situated between Bagnone and Monti and looks over to the ancient castle and town of Corvarola,and beyond to the Apennines.
The hamlet of Nola isn't even on most maps and it seems remote from the modern world when you are there, yet it is only ten minutes drive to three towns with shops, bars and restaurants. And there are a couple of country trattorie even closer. It is possible to walk to the nearest, at Gabbiana - about a mile down the road, where you can sit on the terrace looking towards the mountains, eating some of the best food in Italy.
There is a mountain stream a short walk away, where you can bathe in the pools below the waterfalls on a hot summers day. The owners have cleared the land around there and created a picnic areas for clients. There are deeper pools a short drive away, where you can swim and even dive.
Oliveto is the ultimate in relaxation.
There is a wonderful old wicker chaise longue in the garden, where you can spend a lot of time reclining in the shade of an apricot tree with a glass of the local wine or a bowl of fruit, listening to birdsong on the gentle breeze.

Bagnone, less than 10 minutes away, has a grocer, butcher, frutteria, etc, as well as restaurants, bars and banks.
There is a small trattoria in a neighbouring village with a panoramic terrace and excellent, inexpensive food.
The owner is a farmer and tends to leave fresh seasonable fruit and vegetables for guests. He has cleared a area near the river with a small waterfall and bathing pools, and has he has created a picnic area there.

Down on the coast,just 40 minutes away, is Lerici, a small fishing port with a beach and numerous quai-side restaurants. You can catch the boat to the Cinque Terre - 5 cliffside villages hanging over the sea. Or drive up to Portofino to admire the yachts in the harbour.
And you can be in the ski resorts in 40 minutes. In summer the mountains can be appreciated for the lakes and the cool air.
Lucca and Pisa are only an hour away, and Florence is 2 hours. Parma is just over an hour.
You can catch a train from Aulla - quicker than driving and costing less, after petrol, tolls and parking.
