Set in a hilltop village with spectacular views across the Taverone valley to the Apennines. A house has been divided into two apartments. The furniture has all been restored by the owners in traditional style and it all retains the feel of the old borgo.

Il Cielo
A spacious living room with a well-equipped kitchen area and a fireplace in the corner.
A steep traditional staircase leads down to the spacious bedroom. The bathroom is through an archway.
Just outside the door,two steps away, is a gate into the private garden area - lawn with a gazebo, table and chairs, and sunbeds. There is wood-fired heating for the cooler seasons.

La Casa della Nonna
A stylish compact one bedroom apartment just round the corner from Il Cielo.
The is a small living room, one bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom with shower.
The wonderful thing about this apartment is the balcony with amazing views across the valley to the mountains.
On the balcony you can really appreciate the particular silence that this village has - the only sounds are the bells of the sheep in the distance and the gentle wind.

There is now a small above ground pool available in the garden round the back, shared with Il Cielo.
Otherwise, you can walk down the deep cool bathing pools in the Torrente Taverone in the valley below.

Cattognano is surrounded by spectacular walking country and the owner, who is a member of the Club Alpina Italiana, is an enthusiastic walker who knows all the local paths. He leaves maps of these in the apartment for the guest use.

It is about 30 minutes' walk to Tavernelle, across the river to shops and restaurants, and about an hour's walk to Prota, a village with a bar, shop and wonderful restaurant. You can drive of course as well, about 10 minutes in each case. Crespiano, only 5 minutes away down by the river, has a post office, a bar and another superb, economical restaurant. There is a gentle walk to a deep swimming area in the Taverone river, to cool down on a hot summer's day.

The owner has just acquired 2 mountain bikes which can be hired by guests.

The house is in the middle of the borgo, with no cars in its stepped or cobbled streets. You park outside and walk in, as is common in these old hill towns. The owner can meet guests at the entrance by arrangement to carry their luggage on a trolley.

The views are really magnificent. You can hear the silence.

Heating in season, charged by usage. Payable on site. 50% deposit payable on booking. Balance due 70 days before departure. Payment by credit card, debit card, bank transfer or cheque. By arrangement, payment may be may in euros at an agreed rate. In the event of cancellation by the client the following charges shall apply which will be payable by the client depending on the date upon which the cancellation is properly notified in writing: Up to 70 days prior to the departure specified in the confirmation invoice the amount of the deposit. Between 69 and 30 days prior to such departure date a charge of 70% of the full price. Less than 29 days before such departure date, 100% of the full price.
