Vacation Rental Description
This unique property has been stunningly restored to the highest quality levels. Mulino di Sopra was known to have been producing flour over 1,000 years ago and retains many of the original features such as large mill stones and wooden beams.
This typical Tuscan mill has been restored with the living area on the upper floor. This allows the two large terraces to be used as an integral part of the home. The view from the upper floor and the terraces are of the picturesque Tuscan countryside and the river Ombrone which runs down the back of the house.
The total living area in the main house is 300sqm and the two large terrace areas total 50sqm. With one double bedroom and one quadruple bedroom, the property comfortably sleeps two adults and five children. A sofa bed is also available in the children’s room and can sleep two children or one adult.
The spacious living room measures 5.5 x 6.3m. It has a built-in Bose stereo surround sound system and a state-of-the-art large open/close fireplace. There is a terracotta floor, three double windows to maximize natural light and contemporary wire strung ceiling spot lights highlight the tradition wooden beamed and tiled ceiling.
Sky Italia and Sky+ UK are both installed and can be viewed on a new 37 inch Sharp flat screen plasma TV. A DVD player is also connected.
There are two bathrooms, both have a basin, toilet, bidet and heated towel rail. One contains a state-of-the-art circular glass power shower and the other has a double bath.
The stunning kitchen/dining room is separated by a huge traditional brick arch. The total room area is an impressive 6.9 x 6.8m with the arch evenly dividing the room into two halves. A state-of-the-art large open/close fireplace adds another feature into the dining room.
The master bedroom is an impressive 5.9 x 5.3m and is dissected by a large archway. Many of the original mill alcoves are still intact and the tradition wooden beamed and tiled ceiling gives this room a natural warmth and charm.
The second bedroom is a massive 6.5 x 7.1m and is currently used to comfortably house three children with their own dedicated spaces and a generic entertainment space.
The room is halved by a huge original brick arch. Currently each child has their own area/corner measuring 2.5 x 3m which is currently partitioned by low level furniture for privacy. There are a total of 4 single beds in this room (two being bunk beds). The 4th corner has been recreated to represent a “boat play area” and here the children use the computer, listen to music, read, play and watch TV, Video’s and DVD’s.
The beach is 30 minutes away and the ski slopes of Monte Amiata are a picturesque 45 minute drive. Driving times are Florence one hour, San Gimignano 45 minutes, Rome two hours and Pisa one and half hours.
An above-ground 10 x 5m swimming pool is at the front of the house and has retractable stairs making it safe for young children.
There are two large terraces leading directly out from the house; one has a BBQ plus two large dining tables and 7 chairs. There is also a three-seater sofa on the upper terrace.
In the Utility room there is a treadmill and a small TV/Video player with over 400 films to choose from.
The garden was recently professionally landscaped. The total garden area is 1.5 hectares and it has been designed for minimal maintenance. There are many paved areas in the garden including a well lit 4.8 x 5.5 area at the entrance to the house.
There are lights which illuminate the drive, coming on automatically at nightfall and turn themselves off at daytime. There are also wall lights outside the house.
