Vacation Rental Description
Cielo Chiaro is set in 2 acres of private olive grove/garden in the hills above the Niccone valley, on the border of Tuscany and Umbria. The house is one in a small hamlet of 3 reached by a tarmac road and is 10 mins from the nearest village with shops, bars, restaurants, and the best bakery for miles !
The area is rural with breathtaking views, and the local people are welcoming and friendly;the region is dotted with charming hill-top towns for guests to discover the unique concentration of artistic and cultural gems.
The house is well placed to visit the more well-known sites such as Assissi, Orvieto, Siena, and the county towns of Umbria (Perugia) and Tuscany( Arezzo) are within easy reach. For art lovers the region is full of artistic delights with many museums and art galleries; particularly famous for the works of Piero della Francesca.
During the summer and autumn there are events (festas ) even in the smallest of villages where all the locals prepare the food - usually themed such as "funghi!, "bistecha", "tartufi! etc - even the young are involved serving and clearing, and the day ends with music and dancing - an excellent way to see Italians at play!
There are also music events ranging from early classical to modern rock and jazz. The Perugia Jazz festival in July is world famous and always has New Orleans street musicians as well as well-known soul singers and musicians.

We completely restored the house 4 years ago and have tried to make it as comfortable as possible, fitted with everything a family might need whilst on holiday. We would describe it as pretty rather than rustic, with painted walls and colour co-ordinated bedrooms, two of which have en-suite bathrooms, the other being next to the family bathroom. The fitted kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of pans, crockery and glasses - most guests breakfast here, whilst the main living room has a large dining table, an antique three piece suite, an elegant marble fireplace with wood burning stove, and library for holiday reading.
The cottage in the grounds has just been elegantly restored and we have made it suitable for disabled people. It can be rented with the main villa or as a separate entity.

Lake Trasimeno is a short drive away, and has a man-made beach with a ferry to the largest island.
There is a book of local walks in the house- our guests say, very accurate !
We have also prepared a comprehensive house book with recommended restaurants, activities, and we live nearby and are always available for advice and help - just call.
The private pool is 100 metres through the olive trees, has a shower, deep end, and stunning views.
The English owners live 15 kms away from the villa, and are on hand to give advice or inforamtion when needed; the caretaker lives nearby and is always willing to help also.
Guests often take advantage of the train service to visit Rome and Florence, and there is an antiques fair in Arezzo and Perugia every month.
Perugia Jazz Festival is held in July and the Trasimeno Blues festival at various venues around the lake also in July.
The Montone film festival is famous for its unusual movies.
