Vacation Rental Description
"La Stufa" apartment is a cosy two-bedroomed apartment in a once-upon-a-time tobacco tower forming part of a sympathetically restored 18 century farmhouse. It will comfortably sleep 4 people on the upper floor but could accommodate up to 5. The property is in a rural situation surrounded by vineyards and cereal. The house is in 6000 square meters of land which is is mainly grassy areas, fruit trees, olive trees, and grape vines. There are lovely views all round; Cortona on its hill to the north and the mountains Amiata and Cetona to the south. Lake Trasimeno can be glimpsed to the east. The sunny swimming pool area is well supplied with loungers and mattresses and there is a pergola there for those who may care to shelter from the sun and enjoy a drink or, maybe, take lunch. There is a total of four apartments, three of which are for rent and the fourth is occupied by the owners. Each apartment has its own terrace, all of which face south; sun umbrella is provided. The apartment has terracotta tiled floors and wooden ceiling beams throughout. All meals may be taken either on the terrace or at the table provided for in the kitchen. One bedroom is a twin-double with en-suite shower etc room and the other bedroom is a double with adjacent shower room. The lounge and kitchen are on the ground floor and the bedrooms and shower rooms are on the second. There is a wooden staircase, visible in the photograph, which may not be suitable for the elderly or infirm. There is a hedge and other plants screening the terrace area which is partially paved and partially gravelled. Sun umbrella There is both an independent front and back entrance.
Each of the rented apartments (3) has its own small portable barbecue. The kitchen is sufficiently fully equipped to cope with most cooked meals and also has fridge/freezer and washing machine.
There is ample off-road parking and front gate is locked when all guests are settled in for the night.
The property is particularly conveniently situated for visiting most of the main attractions in Tuscany and Umbria. The A1 - autostrada del sole - is but a 20 minute drive away. The nearest international airport - at Perugia - is only a 40 minute drive; Florence airport is one and a half hours, the airports at Rome and Pisa are each about 2 and a half hours. Also reasonably convenient are the airports at Bologna and Ancona. There are two local railway stations - each about a 15 minute drive away - from where one may easily and quickly travel to Florence, Arezzo, Orvieto and Rome. Siena is reached by road in about an hour, San Gimignano one and a half, Volterra two, Assisi in 50 minutes, Cortona's historic center in 20 minutes and Montepulciano's in 25.
Facilities
A 'clothes-horse' is provided which may be used either inside the apartment or on the discreet sunny terrace. There is a hair-dryer. Microwave can be provided on request and is free of charge. Child's cot and high chair can be provided free of charge by arrangement at time of booking. Bed-linen is changed weekly. Dry-cleaning services are to found in nearby Camucia (5 miles). A selection of books and DVDs are available on request. Pool towels are provided.

Museums, art galleries, Medieval and/or Renaissance architecture in Cortona and easy to get to Florence, Siena, Assisi, Arezzo, Perugia, Gubbio etc.
Etruscan remains/museums in Cortona and Chiusi.
Excellent bars and restaurants to suit all budgets everywhere.
Theatre, indoor and outdoor cinema.
Two 9 hole golf courses and two 18 hole courses at respectively Valdichiana (20 minutes), Panicale (35 minutes), Antognolla (40 minutes) and Ellera Umbra (40 minutes).
Hiking and Mountain biking in the hills to the north and east of Cortona and around nearby Lake Trasimeno.
Man-made beaches and dinghy sailing at picturesque Lake Trasimeno, Italy's fourth largest. Ferries to the islands.
Popular and Classical music concerts including The Tuscan Sun Festival, Trasimeno Music Festival, Trasimeno Blues Festival. Free classical concerts abound during summer.
Skiing and snow boarding at Monte Amiata (winter only).

Deposit:- a non-returnable deposit of 20% is required when booking is made. The balance is due 6 weeks before the start of your holiday. The full amount is payable at the time of booking if commencement of the rental period is within 6 weeks. Cancellation:- Cancellation must be made in writing to owners by the hirer who signed the booking form. In the event of cancellation by the hirer the following charges apply: 4-6 weeks prior to commencement of rental period 50% of rental. 2-4 weeks prior to commencement of rental period 75% of rental. Less than 2 weeks prior to commencement of rental period 100% of rental.
