Main Description
Cellole sits on its own hilltop amongst some of Tuscany’s most beautiful countryside commanding wonderful views on all sides of vineyards and olive groves set in the surrounding rolling hills.

Nearly a thousand years ago Cellole was a fortified rock and one of four watch towers of the nearby Castle of S. Maria Novella. Cellole belonged to the Gianfigliazzi family wealthy Florentine bankers and money lenders, and as early as 1237 was their residence, the church of S.Andrea is mentioned as early as 1260. In 1799 S.Andrea became a priory and at the height of its glory in 1858 there are records which show a congregation of 237 people. Abandoned in the early 1960’s when the farmers fled the countryside to find work in the factories near the big cities it was sold by the Curia to a series of owners who allowed it to fall into total ruin. The present owners purchased the ruin in late 1987 and spent several years rebuilding it and returning it to its former glory adding all the modern comforts whilst keeping the traditional terracotta floors and beamed ceilings which are typical of Tuscan houses and furnishing it with antiques and traditional country furniture.

Geographically speaking Cellole is excellently placed approximately half way between Florence and Siena and about half an hour drive to both. Lucca and Pisa are an hour away whilst S.Gimignano, Certaldo Alto and Colle Vald’Elsa to name but a few of the smaller jewels of Tuscany are nearby making this an ideal centre for art and history lovers. Good food and wine connoisseurs will not be disappointed, there are numerous restaurants in the area, the nearest being just ten minutes away at Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.

Cellole offer its exclusive guests three comfortable fully modernised cottages with good sized kitchens all with ovens and washing machines, excellent bathrooms and comfortable and spacious living rooms and bedrooms.
The large 12X6M swimming pool is situated in the garden facing cottages Murlo and Polvereto and is equipped with loungers and chairs, there is a stone built barbecue and all the cottages have their own patio with pergola and are furnished with teak garden furniture.

The total number of guests on the property at one time never exceeds ten making Cellole the ideal place for a relaxing break in the peace and quiet of the countryside, to further this end we prefer not to accept children under the age of 16.

Cottage Murlo has its own well equipped full size kitchen with all utensils and abundant crockery glasses etc. provided. All you have to do is provide the food!! The kitchen/lounge area has two settees ,cable T.V. C.D.player and dining table and six chairs. Upstairs vast master bedroom with two sets of windows affords lovely views of the pool and garden and the surrounding countryside, the en-suite bathroom is spacious with a shower in the bath. The twin room is also exceptionally large. Outside the large garden provides plenty of place for sitting and Murlo has its own patio with shade for eating al fresco.The pool area and the barbecue are a comunal area.

Rates

Low Season Price : £500
High Season Price : £830 per Week



In high season rental is Saturday to Saturday only with arrivals between 4pm and 7pm and departures before 10am. In low season mid week arrivals and departures are often possible. Please contact owner.
All prices include the following : gas, electricity, water, local taxes ,end of stay cleaning. Central heating when required is payable locally. All cottages come fully supplied with all bath and bed linen sufficient for each occupant, and are changed weekly, for extra changes and maid service other than Saturay an extra charge will be made.
Bookings should be sent accompanied by a deposit of €.450.00 and the balance paid 8 weeks prior to arrival. Failure to pay balance entails forfeit of the deposit. Cancellation conditions upon request.
Confirmation of booking will be sent with a map and arrival instructions of how to reach Cellole. A refundable breakages deposit of €. 250.00 cash is payable in cash on arrival.
