Vacation Rental Description
This charming recently restored town house on four floors with garden has interesting origins. Close to the river Lima, it was originally the gardener’s house for the stately Villa Fiori next door. Being quite a humble house compared to the impressive villa, and as the owners of the villa were a well-to-do family, they could not possibly have the view from their windows ruined by a ‘normal’ house so the wall facing the villa was built up by a further couple of metres , a more noble roofline added, and trompe l’oeil windows with stone surrounds and arched doorways below were added to one side to disguise the lowly house. These features remain and you can still see the outline of the grander windows.
Today, the house has recently undergone extensive restoration and consists of –
Basement – cellar used as kitchen/dining room, with wood-burning oven. The room retains its rustic features of cotto floor, chestnut beams and brick archway. The old stone washing trough is still in place.
Raised ground floor – living room with television and dvd player, second (galley) kitchen with washing machine, hall with dining area.
First floor – two large double bedrooms, large landing, bathroom with small bath and shower over, separate wc.
Second floor – bedroom with twin beds, single bedroom, landing with study area.
The house is furnished with traditional Tuscan furniture alongside antiques and artwork from around Italy and the world.
Outside there is a pleasant garden with garden furniture. You can see the surrounding hills, hear the Lima river and see Villa Fiori and its gardens filled with statues and fountains.
