Situated just a few minutes from the historic town of Sarnano in Le Marche, Villa San Raffaello is a restored farmhouse of immense character with top reviews on www.tripadvisor.com. Sitting in eight acres of land, there are 360 degree views of the medieval village, the wonderful rolling hills and the awesome Sibillini Mountains.

Four self contained apartments offer accommodation for parties from 2 to 8 persons (22 guests in total). The apartments combine the best of the old architecture with fully equipped modern kitchens, bathrooms (some ensuite) and lounges with TV/DVD player, Sky cable TV and wi-fi hook up.

The garden includes vineyards and an “orto” or allotment where you can help yourself to seasonal, organic produce, there are also separate al-fresco eating area for each apartment, plus a cool loggia, an indoor "cortile" or courtyard garden and the large (14m) swimming pool allow different families to enjoy the villas facilities at the same time.

Guests are provided with a detailed itineries, tips for places to go, things to do, wines to sample and the best of the ristorante, there are 200 music CDs per apartment, a shared book and DVD library and childrens games, hammocks and badminton and tennis racquets if you fancy using the local all weather courts. A baby sitting service is available and we are more than happy to make bookings if you need help with the language.

Sarnano itself is one of just over 100 Italian towns to receive the "Bandiere Arancione" from ACI (the Italian touring club or equivalent of th British AA) for its quality as a tourist destination. It has a wonderfully preserved Centro Storico, a Spa or “Terme”, a Children’s Park, Crazy golf, some great delis, shops, gelaterie, bars, over 20 ristorante

The area is perfect for hiking (in fact the villa has over 20 detailed itineraries), cycling or as a base for touring Le Marche. The Villa is only 2km from the Sibillini Mountains National Park, with its diverse wildlife, marked trails and maps and most of the driveable, high altitude starting points for walks are only a short drive from the villa. It will appeal to artists, photographers and anyone who enjoys the countryside or wants a culture fix. There are festas almost every weekend, with singing, dancing and feasting on produce from the local countryside which is dotted with many fascinating hilltop villages, wine cantinas, great beaches and designer clothing outlets.


Villa San Raffaello has endeavoured to be as kind to the local environment as possible, recycling all materials and thoroughly insulating it during the restoration ensures pleasant year round temperatures without the need for too much fuel or air conditioning.

A wood burning heating system reduces gas usage by 80% using sustainable local wood sources. Water is supplied to the house from the mountains nearby and the Villa's waste is filtered and excess water returns to the land. As there is no doorstep recycling service we have installed our own. Numerous trees have been planted in an effort to eliminate the Villas carbon footprint and a tree planting facility is offered to guests to enable the carbon from flights to be eliminated.


Around the villa we are growing organic herbs, fruits and vegetables including bay, marjoram, peppermint, lavender, rosemary, basil, wild mint, fennel and sage, pears, plums, figs, cherries and for autumn guests there are also walnuts and hazelnuts. In 2008 the vegetables available included lettuces, rocket, tomatoes, aubergine, chillis, courgettes, squashes, broad beans, peas, potatoes, carrot, onion, garlic, squash, melon, cabbage, chick-peas, cauliflower, chard, chicoria etc. The wine will be ready in 2010!!!!!

The nearest airport is Ancona Falconara, Perugia and Pescara (Ryanair) all of which takes approx one and a half hours by car. Also try Rome and Bologna- Forli, both under 3 hours.

Skiing & Snowboarding-15 minutes from the villa is Sassotetto is Le Marche’s main ski resort

Walking and Cycling- a host of options many directly from the villa. Top bikes available for rent locally.

Horse Riding- Guided or solo horse riding from 1 to 4 hours or itineries of up to 3 days are 10 mins away.

Hot air Ballooning- 15mins

Water park- 1.15hrs

Canoeing and Pedaloes 20mins at the beach at Lake Fiastra in the mountains beyond Bolognola. Kayaking courses take place 20min away at Lake San Ruffino during the summer.
