Midway between the wine and gastronomic centers of Asti and Alba, the house offers a perfect base for exploring the cultural and historic beauties of Piemonte. Although it is in a private setting, the cottage is not isolated--but, is only a two minute walk to the village shops, cafe, bank, trattoria, pizzeria and a world renowned castle wine estate.

Recently renovated, the house was laid out with an open plan space for cooking, relaxing and reading on the ground floor--which opens onto patio and garden. (Also a half bath, downstairs.) Upstairs: two bedrooms each opening onto a balcony that faces the valley and sunsets. Full bath with tub and clothes washer. The furnishings are comfortable and easy care. Local antiques and colorful period touches give it a warm atmosphere. Linens and kitchen essentials are in place. TV has an English sat-decoder. Fixed phone line with ADSL internet available. There is a library stocked with local guides and books in English.

The Monferrato/Langhe region of Piemonte is famous for its fine wines, traditional foods and truffles.It is an area perfect for wandering with car or robust bike. Within a few miles radius of the house are literally hundreds of wine cellars, ancient villages and farms to visit. Once a summer retreat for Savoy royal and noble families the area boasts dozens of castles and elegant palazzos. The small urban centers nearby--Asti, Alba, etc., important in Roman and medievel times, today offer our guests many interesting angles to explore and enjoy. Museums, markets, specialty shops and sidewalk cafes abound. The elegant city of Turin with its cafe culture and artistic energy is 40km away.

- Travel Info: Vineyard Cottage is located, at the highest and most panoramic point of a pretty castle village. It is surrounded by its own courtyard and flowering garden which leads down to a acre of orchard and meadow. The house was once a farmer's corn barn and we converted a few years ago with an eye to convenience and relaxation. From the garden, there are unobstructed views over hundreds of kilometers of Monferrato's vineyards and villages--with a backdrop of snowcapped Alps.
Owner Location Comment
We bought the little Nido Cottage several years ago to accomodate our international family and friends--to allow them a taste of the tranquil and traditional way of life that we enjoy in this beautiful corner of Italy. In recent years, we have expanded the circle of guests to include travelers who wish to immerse themselves in a "slower" and truly Italian lifestyle.
