Vacation Rental Description
Beautiful and welcoming, completely restructured, elegantly furnished apartment equipped with all technology. Situated in a traditional stone building, this holiday home is located near the Hotel Britannia Excelsior, the Grand Hotel Cadenabbia and just 100 metres from the Lido di Cadenabbia , the Alberghetto La Marianna restaurant and the Anglican Church.
20 metres from the supermarket and the La Vecchia Torre bar, it is situated on the first floor, below another equally comfortable apartment (www.azaleahouse.eu ) and comprises a spacious, luminous living room with country kitchen area and a sitting area with flat screen satellite T.V., ACER desk top computer with free broad band wireless internet access. The room contains a magnificent hand-painted Palladium majolica pellet stove to make guests’ winter stays cosy and romantic, and opens onto a terrace furnished with a table for lunches with a view of the lake towards Villa Melzi in Bellagio.
The interior decor features a beautifully-finished niche where reflected light is amplified by the glass, floral shapes discovered in the stone by the creative Eugenio (cell.347-0721329)- a motif that symbolically ties the apartment with the surrounding area and its luxuriant public parks and private gardens that are a mass of blooms from the Spring onwards - and the arch created by the skilled hands of master craftsman, Livio.
The soft line and colour of the wooden beam set into the ceiling is the work of Raffaele (cell. ) and the curved stone used for the floors was artistically carved by Guido.
Glicine House has two bedrooms leading off the entrance hall where the walls are decorated with geometric patterns in an antique red that picks up the colour of the red larch parquet floor.
The double bedroom, overlooking the garden and with a side view of the lake, has air conditioning as well as heating for the winter months. The wisteria-blue colour makes for calm, relaxing atmosphere.
The second bedroom, with three single beds, also has air conditioning (and heating), as well as a ‘fifties terracotta working woodstove, which blends well with the pink-painted walls. The room overlooks a charmingly-lit courtyard which serves as a private carpark for guests.
In both bedrooms, the headboards and wardrobes feature decorative carving by master carpenters from Sutrio, custodians of a traditional expertise known throughout Val Badia, Val Gardena and the nearby Austrian Tyrol and Carinzia.
There is also a fine cradle from the Engadin decorated with colourful flowers in typical Austrian Tyrolean style.
Glicine House welcomes its guests with a variety of warm, vibrant colours emphasized by the mysterious, intriguing reflected light of Marrakesh, typical of the Arab world, a delight for the eyes of those seeking quiet and relaxation, or providing an ideal atmosphere for planning work commitments.
In the completely renovated, disabled-accessible bathroom with shower, sober but elegant stone and wood details recall the simplicity of country life in the high mountain pastures, the walls being the rust colour of iron or earth.
Linear shapes blend with the colourful floral wall decorations and emphasize the beauty of the different shades of colour that make for a warm welcome.

Glicine House are strategically placed for unforgettable excursions (guided by Lucia and Gigliola) on foot or by car:By car: To Lugano, financial centre of the Canton Ticino situated on the lake of the same name, one hour’s journey away. To Melide, also in the Swiss Canton Ticino, site of the tourist attraction “Switzerland in Miniature”. To Madesimo in Val Chiavenna, ski resort well-known to mountain enthusiasts. To Saint Moritz in the Engadin, Canton Grissons - the internationally famous resort is 120 kilometres away, together with the quiet towns of Sils, Ardez, Guarda and Bever. In the area we suggest excursions on foot along the Segantini Trail and the Adventure Trail, suitable for families with children, and to Lakes Cavloc and Bitabergh near the Maloja Pass. To Tirano for memorable day-long train ride on the “Bernina Express” through incomparable scenery as far as Saint Moritz or the Alpine town of Chur. To Mendrisio, the FoxTown Outlet Factory.

To Lenno to visit Villa del Balbianello, owned by the FAI (Italian Environmental Fund) and the location for scenes from “Star Wars”.
To Piona Abbey, the home of Cistercian monks known for their handicrafts, reachable by ferry across the lake.
On foot:
To Sasso di San Martino, a 40 minute excursion to enjoy a walk to the church in company, from where you can see how Bellagio runs out into the lake and divides it.
To Tremezzo to visit Villa Carlotta, its gardens and the Botanical Gardens.
To Bellagio, crossing the Lake on the ferry from Cadenabbia, to discover the romance of the “Pearl of the Lake”, much loved by Americans for its Villa Melzi and Villa Serbelloni.
To Cadenabbia,100 metres from the house, to experience the Lake and its beauty close up, and walk along the Greenway as far as Colonno, an easy way to get to the know the central lake.
To Sacro Monte di Ossuccio with its historic fourteen chapels.
