Tastefully decorated apartment in Marta, it's a lovely unspoilt town on the shores of beautiful lake Bolsena.
Vacation Rental Description
The apartment which has a independent entrance is located on the 1st floor of the building, the second apartment located on the 2nd floor is the apartment that I live in. With only the 2 apartments in the building it ensures privacy & security. The building is situated on a quite street which is just 3 minutes from the main piazza, & shores of lake Bolsena. There is a traffic free zone along the lake with a park & play area, also there is seating so that you can just enjoy the view.
Discover this unspoilt area of northern Lazio. Lake Bolsena is the biggest volcanic lake in all of Europe. The water is exceptionally clean. It is perfect for all water sports, swimming, fishing, or boating. Why not take a sailing course, from ages 6 to adult.
There are many natural beaches around the shores of the lake, all open to the public, as well as sulphur springs & spas near by, visit the sulphur springs in open fields, or go to one of the nearby spas where you could have a massage and many other beauty treatments.
This is a beautiful area of Italy, away from the crowded tourist places, there are unspoilt views of the stunning surrounding country side with it's rolling hills covered with olive groves and vineyards, yet you have the benefit of easy access to many interesting places within 1 hrs drive.
Main train station is in Viterbo 20 mins drive away with hourly trains to Rome. Orte which is 35 mins away with good connections to Rome & other parts of Italy.
Visit Orvieto, Assisi, Todi, Tarquinia, Montefiascone, Bagnoregio, Vulci, to name just a few of the places that are within easy reach of Marta.
There are many local festivals throughout the summer, the main festa is the Barabbata on the 14th of May every year. The week after, is the Festa di Laterina a small lake fish similar to whitebait. You can also enjoy other lake fish in the local restaurants, laterina, coregone, persico, eel. A local red wine is cannaiola, the cannaiola festa is in July. There is a weekly market every Thursday, or the week-end markets in the summer. Visit the grotto where the image of the Madonna has appeared.
This is a perfect place to get away from the busy everyday life that many people lead. You can get a real feel for the Italian life style. The locals are very friendly & welcoming.
It is a great for cyclists & hikers to holiday in this area, there is a road that takes you around the lake. Discover the many small towns & villages with their main piazza, almost all have wonderful icecream that is normaly made by the owners. Take a pic-nic to one of the many beaches which are all open to the public, there is no charge to use the beaches around the lake.
You can relax & swim in the clean waters of the lake. Hire a boat for the day to explore the lake. Everything from paddle boats to 40hp motor boats.
From the riding school near by you can hire horses from 1 hour to a whole day, and go trekking through the countryside, or just ride around the arena.
This is an area not to be missed.
Facilities
The apartment is very bright & airy it is very tastefully decorated with high ceilings, and the morning sun shines into the living room. It is fully equipped with everything that you would require. Linens, towels, bathrobes, beach towels, all are supplied, also a cleaning service can be arranged if required. There is a small charge for this service. There is a good selection of DVD's video's & CD's The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, hob, oven, toaster, microwave, plenty of cooking utensils, & dishes. Washing machine, iron, ironing board. There are fans for each bedroom.
Activities
There are numerous activities in the area, the lake has many beaches, there are tennis courts in, golf 35 mins, boat rentals 4 km away, where you can rent anything from paddle boats, kayaks, to motor boats with a 40 hp engine. It is a great area for hiking or biking. Horse riding, where you can go trekking or simply ride in the out door arena.
Lake fishing is very popular you can buy a license at the fishing supply store in Marta.
In near by Viterbo you could take a language course or a cooking course. Attend the Opera Festival, or the Baroque Music Festival both annual events.
There are plenty of restaurants in Marta all within walking distance of the apartment.
During the summer there are fiesta's almost every week-end. Some of the fiesta's date back to medieval times.
We have a anuual horse gymkhana in August.
There is also a large horse gymkhana in Tuscania which is a 3 day event in May where horses from all over Italy attend.

Book your 2010 holiday at 2008 prices. Min Rental 1 week. 20% deposit is required to book your reservation with full payment required 1 month prior to arrival. A charge of E25 for final cleaning is added onto this price. All payments in Euro only. Arrival & departure days are flexible. Check out 12 noon check in 3p.m. Also flexible if no guests arriving that day. Take advantage of the special winter rates 3 weeks for the price of 2. What a wonderful time we had here for our honeymoon. Marta & surrounding area is just beautiful.
The sightseeing amazing. the local people were very nice.

What a find, our favourite was the beach at Capodimonte, the cruise of the lake & kayaking the headland. Strolling the promenade along the lake shore. Very relaxing & enjoyable time. Peter & Jenny Australia.

I have stayed here many times and it is a magnificent appointed apartment and always spotless,something which I find extremely difficult to find when travelling in Europe.The location is perfect for travelling around the Tuscan area and only one hour thirty minutes from Rome,as I like to go visit the city a couple of times during my stay.The owner is very friendy and helpful as are all the local people.

I have had the pleasure of staying at this property & would like to say how clean it was,great location as a base for visiting numerous places of interest in that part of Italy. The people were very friendly & I enjoyed great walks around the village. Whilst here I became part of an authentic Italian lifestyle. Also a big thank you to the owner for leaving a welcoming pack including milk & a bottle of wine which was greatly appreciated.

I am a retired Flight Attendant that has flown around the world for close to 30 years. I have owned my property in Marta since 2004 and have been renting it for holidays for the last 2 years. Although I have travelled extensively throughout the world, Italy was always one of my favourite destinations. I found that this area of Italy was a area that I enjoy visiting very much, therefor it was a place that I wanted to return to. The pristine lakes and surrounding countryside are unmiss-able. I visit numerous times throughout the year. The comments that I receive from all my guests are always very positive. They have also enjoyed their stay in this area, the accommodation, location, local restaurants, & other facilities.
