Vacation Rental Description
Colle dell'Arci is a 90-hectares farm located on the Arci hill close to Fara in Sabina. The heart of it is given by the ancient olive grove, which produces the famous Protected Denomination of Origin (PDO) "Sabina" extra virgin olive oil, surrounded by green pastures and woods. The Sabines inhabited the Arci hill well before the birth of Rome and founded there the city of CURES. The Sabine king Tito Tazio lived in Cures, and the Roman kings Numa Pompilio and Anco Marzio were born in Cures. Subsequently Cures turned into a small Roman town, and finally disappeared during the Middle Age. Today the most important findings from Cures are on display in the Archeological Museum of Fara in Sabina. During the feudal era, the Arci hill became a property of the Torlonia family. A hunting house was built on the hill, together with several farmhouses. In the twentieth century, the Torlonia property was sold and Giovanni Silvestri acquired the Arci hill. His granddaughters, in addition to continuing the agricultural activities of the Farm, decided to renovate one of the farmhouses to share the beauties of the Arci hill with their guests. This farmhouse now offers six fully-furnished apartments with kitchenette, accessible to disabled visitors. Each apartment has its own flavour and personality. The quiet and romantic location makes it ideal for all visitors, couples, families and individuals seeking for peace, art, gastronomy and warm hospitality.
Amazingly enough, the farm is only 35' away from Rome, which can be reached by car or, most conveniently, by the Fiumicino Aeroporto-Fara in Sabina rail line. The confortable, air-conditioned trains arrive and depart every 15', and take you stress-free to the heart of Rome. Rome is however not the only nearby touristic attraction: Sabine boasts some little-known gems as Farfa, Fara in Sabina, Santa Vittoria, Vescovio, Toffia, and the sanctuaries in St. Francis' walk.
We will be glad to assist our guests in planning visits and tours in the surrounding, and we also offer guided tours of Sabine and Rome.
For the guests of our farmhouse, we can prepare meals at the Torlonia hunting house, as well as oil-tastings, tours of the olive grove and visits to the oil mill.
For those guests who wish to practice pizza cooking, a wood oven is available at the farmhouse, as well as a barbecue.
Whether you are interested in visiting Sabine or Rome, or looking for a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere, or searching for traditional agricultural products and gastronomy, a stay at our Farm will make you fully satisfied!
