Salerno is in the center between Amalfi coast and paestum an Cilento coast. 
My little apartment of 34 sqm is in the heart of the old city center, Piazza Portanova one of the most important old square in the city, fully furnished and in a commercial and very nice zone. 
You can easily go walking for the old city center and enjoy restaurants, bars, pubs and other amenities. 
Bus stop to amalfi coast is very close to apartment (< 50mt), railway station is abot 500 mt far.
