The Masseria is also conveniently situated just a short drive from small villages with markets, restaurants and food shops.

The Masseria is built in local stone with thick stone walls and large windows, so the property is comfortably cool and light even in the heat of the summer. Masseria Papavero has been designed to combine local architecture with a feeling of a Moroccan Riad. The walled building centres around the stone courtyard with a cooling water fountain. This not only gives the feeling of tranquillity but ensures that there are lots of niches to find peace and quiet. The Masseria has many beautiful features included vaulted ceilings, stone fireplace , French doors from each room onto the courtyard.

The modern fully equipped kitchen gives you all the amenities that you will need. The open plan living space is light, bright and comfortable. The Masseria can sleep eight people comfortably. In the main building there is a spacious Master bedroom en-suite. A further twin bedroom with family bathroom. On the other side of the courtyard another building houses a Double bedroom with a further twin bedroom and shared family bathroom. All the rooms are simply but tastefully furnished.

Outside , you will find the swimming pool set in a walled courtyard so safe for families with small children. There is a spacious covered Pergola offering shade for dining and retreating from the hot Salento sun. In addition there are comfortable seating areas and further umbrellas under which to relax. In this walled garden you will also find an outdoor cooking area with a barbeque area with ample seating for eight people. At night the courtyard is softly lit to enable you to relax and enjoy the balmy evenings. The lighting system has been specially designed to make the most of the masseria’s unique beauty and ensure that evening dinners and drinks are truly memorable.

When you leave the main house and walk into the beautiful terrain that surround the Masseria, you will find the property’s own olive grove, the perfect space for a quiet walk, to read or even just to sit and contemplate. The trees are centuries old and have spectacularly large gnarled and twisted trunks.
