Vacation Rental Description
What shall we say about the region of Abruzzo? For one thing I suppose you could say we're a little spoilt here. We have three national parks and one regional park which altogether cover a third of the region and constitute 'Europe's Greenest Area'. We also have five lakes, three mountain ranges and 75 miles of coastline! We have many beautiful scenic walks, for example the walk of the hundred water-falls or take a mountain bike rides on one or two of the many off road tracks. This is also obviously fantastic country for all of you photographers and bird watchers - Buzzards are an every date sighting here. Painter's heaven - if instead you'd like to pass the days painting stunning scenes of old Italian villages or of the majestic Apennine mountains then this is the place to be. Summertime is the season of 'the festa', every town and village has its own patron saint and associated celebrations. Fireworks during the daytime - oh yes! Each festa is unique and generally involves lots of eating and drinking of local wines and speciality foods often followed by dancing late into the night.
At Torre dei Nolfi we have lots of festas' lasting all summer long including the 'Sagra di Grano' which celebrates everything associated with agriculture in this area principally olives, tomatoes, grapes and wheat. Very popular with our guests!

The apartment's kitchen is fully equipped; the rest of the apartment is beautifully furnished.
Activities
The Apennine mountains are second to none for walking, mountain biking, para-gliding and hang-gliding.

You have been most patient in offering assistance in the planning, and much needed help with interpreting and in offering a place that has so much attention to detail with warm decour and beautiful craftsmanship. There is so much heart here; it has been the ideal location to enjoy the beautiful scenery of this land and people of Torre dei Nolfi and Bugnara. You have been blessed with a somewhat rare gift of deep hospitality. There are so many things to speak about but I mainly want you to know that finding a place to stay in is one thing, but finding hosts such as yourselves has made this a most treasured memory. - Nearest Airport : Pescara at 60 kilometers distance;
- Nearest Train Station : Sulmona at 4 kilometers distance
- Nearest Town : Sulmona at 4 kilometers distance
- Travel Info: Arrive at either of Rome's airports - Rome is less than two hours away. Alternatively there is Pescara airport which is around forty-five minutes away. Although it's perfectly possible to arrive at MonteViste by train a hire car is advisable.

We shall all look back on this holiday in Italy with great pleasure. It has really been a wonderful experience for us all. The apartment was beyond our expectations with stunning views from the balconies and breakfast/lunch/coffee on the patio. Clive and Paula have worked hard to create a stunning apartment and a great atmosphere of peace and relaxation. We have visited numerous places, all stunning, including Lake Scanno and Roccaraso up in the mountains; I could write more: Much love and thanks to you Clive and Paula.... Kingsley. Thanks for the great holiday it was fab! I enjoyed every minute especially relaxing on the beach in the sunshine... Hannah. It has taken a while to get here but I'm sure it won't be our last visit. Clive and Paula have beautifully restored this apartment which is homely, comfortable and full of character. Every need is provided for and Clive and Paula are always on hand with friendly advice and tourist information! The views are mouthwatering and a sheer pleasure to wake up to. The apartment is situated in a delightful village, complete with village shop and friendly residents. It is perfect for exploring the abruzzo region - Lago di Scanno is a must! We also had a fabulous visit to Montecassino. Nearer to the apartment, Sulmona is a lovely town with lots to see and lovely places to shop and eat - and the weekly market is well worth a visit. Rome is just an hour and 40 minutes away by car and Clive and Paula have lots of information about where to stay and what to see. We had a wonderful holiday and can highly recommend the apartment.

The apartment is bright, clean well equipt, with it's own access off the narrow shady cool street where you are free to come and go as you like. The village is small and quiet with post office, and church on the small piazza. The locals are welcoming and our integration into their village events helped us feel part of the community. We were lucky enought to join a parade from one church to another as the irgin Mary was carried from house to house annually, we were treated to a performance by a travelling theatre company in the piazza on evening, and neighbours and friends of Clive and Paula shared the seasonal gathering of Olives, preserving of home grown Tomatoes and crushing of grapes for the export to distant lands. The mountains create a powerful horizon and the landscape is dotted with red tiled farm buildings and olive groves. Nearby the town of Sulmona provided us with a large market, classic architecture and an aquaduct that still provides water for the fountain. Famous for the production of decorative floral displays made from sugared almonds, Sulmona has shop after shop of brightly coloured displays. The apartment is well placed for exploration in all directions locally. I look forward to another visit.
