Our Villa is situated on a 20 acre property within the lush hills of Abruzzo, overlooking the town of Castelli and backing onto the Gran Sasso National Park. The Villa is surrounded by majestic mountains, sweeping vistas and beautiful rural Italian countryside.

The Villa makes an excellent homebase for exploring the endless hidden gems of this unique region of Italy. The Adriatic Sea is a 40 minute drive East. Rome is a 90 minute drive West. One passes hillside vineyards and fields of sunflowers along the old winding country roads. The A24 is a short distance away, and in every direction untold hours of exploring and delight await.


Castelli Villa

The villa makes an excellent base for day-tripping as it rests in the heart of a region rich in history and tradition.
Local restaurants dot the countryside. Marketing can be done close by.

Castelli has flourished since the XI century when the Benedictine Abbey of San Salvatore introduced pottery to the area laying the foundations from which arose famous artists such as Orazio Pompei, the brothers Grue and Gentilli. Today, some of these works can be seen in The Louvre of Paris, the British Museum of London, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The tradition carries on to this day as Castelli houses the Ceramic Art Museum and the National School of Art. Both Majolica reproductions and more modern ceramics are offered for sale year round. During the month of August local artisans gather in a fair to exhibit and sell their work among the many workshops, studios, shops, restaurants, and cafes which line the ancient town streets.

The Villa is not luxurious...honest accomodations in a part of real Italy.

The house is very private. It sits atop a hill on the edge of Gran Sasso National Park...overlooking a valley with the town of Castelli on the other side. There are a few farms below the villa near the main road, but the villa is secluded. It is about a 12 minute walk into the village but longer back as you walk up a very steep hill ( not for the faint of heart ).

On the 2nd floor there are 3 bedrooms, with a European Queen bed in each, and 2 full bathrooms (showers). There is a fold-away cot which is in the Master bedroom.

The villa is very open to the outside with balconies and louvered windows and doors. There is a powder room downstairs off the kitchen. There is a full eat-in kitchen connecting to a living room. The whole house has ceramics. The furniture is simple and practical, much in keeping with homes in the region.

High Season Price : $975 per Week

50 % deposit due upon booking and the balance 4 due weeks before arrival.
