Main Description
The village is vibrant with nine great restaurants, seven pubs, and good shopping for home cooking, The butchers pride themselves on the quality of the locally reared lamb and beef. Carlingford Oysters are famous too. There is music in almost all the pubs at the weekend and a disco in the local hotel for the 'young at heart'. Guide to the area supplied with each booking.
It is also one of the most active villages in Ireland with walking and sailing very popular. The Carlingford Adventure centre runs courses all year round for both land and water-based activities.
During the year and not just in high season, there are many activities taking place in and around the village. Walking tours are available most weekends and there is a guide who can be hired locally for private tours and trips. The Heritage Centre often has talks, recitals and musical events. For children there is a lovely playground, and they can explore the castles and ruins of the ancient abbey. There are public tennis courts in the village, that anyone can use. Carlingford is a living village, not just a holiday destination.

Newgrange - the 3,000 BC buriel chambers,
Proleek Dolmen - Standing stones,
Hill of Tara - seat of the High Kings of Ireland,
