Vacation Rental Description
This apartment is situated in a purpose built block in a prestigious area of Dublin. Ailesbury Road which runs from Ballsbridge to Donnybrook is a tree lined residential road, home to many of the Embassies. The block is set in gardens with a large lawned area for sitting out and has its own private parking. The residents are mainly retired so it is a quiet haven and it is expected that guests will not create unwanted noise!
The apartment, although having only one bedroom is very spacious and has a cloakroom off the hall as well as a bathroom (with an over the bath shower) off the bedroom. The matresses were bought with the purpose of providing for the differing requirements of so many couples - one is latex for the softer loving type and one is a medium sprung matress. The matresses (these are two matresses on one super king frame, not separate beds) are made up with twin duvets but I can provide a super-king one on advance request. I do not have a cot so, sorry, no babies - this is only suitable for 1 to 2 adults.
The sitting room has comfortable seating for five, a multi-channel TV, DVD player, Wifi Broadband access (free), a piano and a working fireplace which burns smokeless logs, obtainable from the local supermarket.
The apartment is centrally heated and has constant hot water during the day. A balcony leads off the sitting room and looks over the buildings of Ballsbridge towards the sea a mile away (hidden by trees in between so no actual 'sea view'). This faces east as do all the other rooms so it gets only early morning sun. The windows are huge so the whole apartment is very bright.
The kitchen is well equipped (including microwave and dishwasher) and has a small seating area. There is a dining room table, seating six, in the sitting room.
There is a video-phone entrance system in the hall and a daytime caretaker is on hand for emergencies. The block is equipped with a sensitive smoke alarm system. The apartment is on the third floor, reached by lift or stairs. There are 3 steps (with handrail) outside going up to the main entrance so it is not suitable for those in wheelchairs.
Provided for the holidaymaker is a comprehensive folder of how things work in the apartment and suggestions of things to do in Dublin. The apartment is prepared for holidays by me personally. All linen, towels and utilities are included in the rental rate. There are no extras unless a telephone is required and this can be arranged at cost with advance notice for visitors staying over a month.
As this is my own holiday home it is supplied with all the normal things one would find in a store cupboard including tea and coffee and it is just asked that you replace as used.
There are shops a few minutes walk from the apartment and a large supermarket a little further away. Buses, including the Aircoach from Dublin airport stop about 3 minutes walk from the apartment. The buses run very frequently to the centre but you can walk to St Stephen's Green through very pleasant streets, in under 30 minutes.
Herbert Park is 5 minutes walk away. Here you can stroll amongst the flowers, feed the ducks on the pond, go jogging or play tennis on the public courts. There are plenty of good places to eat and drink in the area and it is close to two rugby grounds. Golfing is available to visitors at Elm Park Golf course (10 mins walk). In addition the Belfield Campus of University College Dublin is within easy walking distance making this a popular place to stay for the visiting academic. A major teaching hospital - St. Vincent's Hospital - is a few minutes away as is the home of Irish television, the studios of RTE.
Please see the calendar to get an idea of availability as I try to keep this up to date. Lets are for a MINIMUM OF FIVE NIGHTS only, for a MAXIMUM OF 2 PEOPLE, and I regret that last minute bookings are not possible because of logistics at my end.

Owner Location Comment
Under 3kms from St. Stephen’s Green, pedestrianised Grafton Street & Trinity College and very well served by buses for the 10 minute run, the location couldn't be bettered. The Aircoach runs right by too. Local shops are 5 minutes walk.
The Merrion Shopping Centre (Tesco here), St. Vincents Hospital, the Royal Dublin Society, RTE Montrose Studios, and University College Dublin are all nearby and the Dart railway is about a 15 minute walk down Ailesbury Road) at Sydney Parade. You can walk to the beach at Sandymount in about 20 minutes or take a 5 minute stroll to Herbert Park (public tennis courts, duck ponds etc.) It is in a perfect quiet position for being near to the centre of Dublin, without the noise, and convenient for trips by car or bus southwards to the sea and mountains.
