Tig na Failte is Irish for 'House of Welcome'. For years family and friends have stayed here enjoying the magnificent views, tranquility and the sunsets to the west of the house. Now is your chance to stay as a self-catering guest in our recently renovated dormer bungalow overlooking spectacular Dunmanus Bay. The house sits on a quiet laneway which rises above the road between Durrus and Mizen Head. To the rear of the property you can sit on the patio and soak in the beautiful view of tranquil Dunmanus Bay, as in the photo above.
The patio area to the west of the house is set up for outdoor dining with a barbecue table and chairs. The garden is child friendly with swings and a slide. The garden is set with local plants for your enjoyment and relaxation. The open plan kitchen /livingroom opens onto the patio through a (wheelchair friendly) full length glass door. The spacious living room has an open fire, a television and video, C.D.audio unit MP3 compatable, , and many books on the area. The kitchen is well equiped for the adventurous cook; with a cooker hob and oven, microwave, refrigerator, deep freeze, dishwasher, toaster and food processor
The property has 3 bedrooms, all with views of the sea. The two ground floor bedrooms have 2 single beds in each. The larger bedroom has spectacular views of the bay through the large picture window. The downstairs bathroom is wheelchair accessible. The main area of relaxation is the living room, but we also have a games/ playroom. The futon here pulls out to a small double bed, if needed.

The garage contains a washing machine and dryer for your use. There is a circular clothes line in the upper garden.. Our guests enjoy the smell and feel of old fashioned sun dried clothes. Durrus village is 1 1/2 km walking distance away for essentials. Schull and Bantry are both 10 minutes drive away for country markets, shopping and the hustle and bustle of nightlife. Excellent restaurant in the area such as Blairs Cove House and Annie's of Ballydehob need to be booked well in advance so great is their reputation.

Activities
Sailing and diving, , whale watching and many other watersports. Take a ferry to the islands of Cape Clear, Sherkin and Hare Island. Visit one of the gardens which comprise the West Cork Garden Trail. See the range of antiquities including some of Ireland's best known stone circles.The area offers great walks including the Sheep's Head Way.
We often pick blackberries or mushrooms on the lane , and cook fresh fish on the barbecue in the garden. The Atlantic Gulf Stream makes the climate here the mildest in Ireland. Or you can just relax here and admire the view.
Local activities
Child friendly beaches a short drive away, with a pebble beach at the end of the lane.
Golf can be played at nearby Bantry, Glengariff or Schull.
West Cork has many well known restaurants, with the award winning Blair's Cove House 1/2 km away.
