Down River House is a delightful south-facing detached holiday home on the riverbank with incredible views of the waters of the Ilen Estuary, close to the little village of Lisheen. The cottage is stylish and comfortable, and boasts accommodation including four bedrooms and an open-plan living area complete with spectacular views and cosy open fire. This area is described as the gateway to the best sailing off Ireland. Skibbereen is a thriving market town that prides itself on superb local produce including seafood, meat and bread from its own bakery, and weekly country and farmer markets. The intriguing West Cork Arts Centre and the enthralling Skibbereen Heritage Centre, along with interesting shops, great restaurants and lively pubs are all to be found here, suffused with the town’s famous warm welcome. Situated in the midst of some of Ireland's most spectacular scenery, walkers, cyclists and drivers can all enjoy easy access to the sandy beaches, secluded coves, tranquil lakes, rivers, hills and forests in the area. An indoor sports centre with fully equipped gym and an excellent 18-hole golf course are available for the energetic holidaymaker. There are many pretty towns and villages nearby to explore including Kinsale (aka the “Gourmet Capital of Ireland”); Leap; Rosscarberry; Ballydehob and Bantry.
