This delightful detached former schoolhouse is now a magnificent property in a beautiful location in Heir Island, off the coast of West Cork. Ferries run every two hours, every day, to the mainland with its choice of shops, pubs and restaurants, sheltered coves and sparkling sands. The Old School House retains a wealth of original features including exposed beams and local stone and slate, and offers a wood burner and incredible coastal views. The spectacular setting and wildlife of Heir Island is a paradise for those who love art and nature.

Shop 5 mins walk (open Mon-Sat). Groceries must be ordered in advance for delivery on Mon, Wed & Fri. Alternatively, visit mainland. Pub is on mainland, via daily ferry, and is 3 miles from Cunnamore point. Note: Visitors are advised to leave cars on mainland (Cunnamore point) where there is ample parking. Daily passenger ferries run to Heir Island.
Surrounded by the breathtaking panorama of the Carbery Hundred Isles, Heir Island’s stunning landscape has long drawn artists from all over, and gastronomes flock to the famous Island Cottage Restaurant. Tranquil countryside walking and cycling opportunities abound, and visitors can also enjoy the sandy beaches and the abundance of unusual birds and hundreds of wildflower varieties on the red marshlands. Roaringwater Bay also has a sailing school, beautiful walks and many interesting artists' studios. Nearby Skibbereen is a vibrant market town known as the Capital of West Cork, and is filled with eclectic shops, good pubs and restaurants, the wonderful West Cork Arts Centre and the Skibbereen Heritage Centre.
