Vacation Rental Description
Built in 2006 and equipped to a high standard for our own personal use our 3 bedroomed house is ideal for a relaxing holiday and as a base for touring local castles, archaelogical sites and the meandering villages of the Peloponnese. It is in a rural peaceful location with stunning panoramic views of sea and mountains,with many sandy beaches nearby. Our local and favourite beach, 8 minutes walk, is very quiet even at peak times. As you walk though the olive groves and lemon trees, you may be lucky enough to see a tortoise on the way. Guests have also seen turtles swimming in Koroni harbour and hatching on Memi beach. Eat & relax on the south & east facing upstairs terrace at all times of the year listening to the birds, enjoying the magnificient views, having a champagne breakfast or counting shooting stars. Patio areas outside the bedrooms and the front terrace provide for shade at different times of the day. Fall asleep or read a book in the hammock hung between the olive trees.
The picturesque town of Koroni, with it's harbour side tavernas, Venetian castle, shops and banks is 25 minutes walk or an 8 minutes drive. The fruit and vegetable market held on Sunday morning is worth a visit. Fresh fish may be purchased on the harbourside.
The quaint smaller town of Charakopio is close by with all the necessary shops, we would recommend particurlarly the homemade pasta shop.
Petalidi Market is held on a Friday morning which is a general market as well as fruit and vegetables.
Koroni & nearby Methoni castles are Venetian castles which were once the eyes of Venice surveying the shipping lanes between the Adriatic and Crete. Ancient Messini is less than an hours drive away. Pylos with its wonderful square and castle is a must see as is Navarino Bay. Ancient Olympia is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours drive. Too many interesting archaeological sites to mention here.
This is real Greece at its best. What ever the time of year we have found the area to be contrasting, beautiful and interesting, in spring the flowers have to be seen to be believed and the Taygetos mountains may still be outlined with snow. There are numerous beaches to find and explore many of which you could have to yourself.
The Peloponnese is renown for its calendar of festivals so it is worth checking what is happening as you book.
Travel: Consider starting your holiday with a cheap flight to Athens. We can help you with all travel arrangements, locate the cheapest flights and if required arrange overnight accommodation near Athens Airport where Theodore will meet you and take you back the next day to pick up your car hire.
Alternatively flights to Kalamata are from May to October then a 40 minute drive on empty roads through rural Greece. We can arrange for you to be met at Kalamata Airport, train or bus station for an extra charge.
Facilities
Downstairs our house has a bathroom with toilet, bath and shower, 2 double bedrooms (1 double, 1 with 2 single beds) and a utility with washing machine. Each bedroom has patio doors leading onto a terrace with individual table and chairs for breakfast or relaxing looking over the olive trees and gardens. Wheelchair access is possible downstairs but there are no disability adaptations. To take advantage of the magnificent views the open plan kitchen/lounge is on the lst floor & has patio doors opening onto the terrace, a third bedroom and second toilet complete the first floor. The kitchen area is fully equipped including fridge/freezer, integrated oven, hob, microwave, kettle and juicer. Marble patio table/chairs, sunbeds and barbeque are provided Towels and linen are included and are changed weekly. Cleaning is on a once weekly basis, a more frequent arrangement may be agreed for an additional charge.
Activities
Two new 18 hole golf courses due to open in May 2010 at Navarino Bay are one hours drive away.
Art lessons, cycle and scooter hire are also availbale in Koroni.
Travel Options
- Nearest Airport : Kalamata at 40 kilometers distance;
- Nearest Town : Koroni at 3 kilometers distance
- Travel Info: Car hire recommended. Our house is 40 minutes drive from Kalamata on quiet local roads. Alternatively it is an easy 4 hours drive from Athens on quiet motorways, the scenary is stunning. The motorway from Athens to Kalamata is scheduled to be complete this summer.

A 25% deposit is required on booking with the balance payable 1 month prior to arrival. For payment by €Euro the total price will be calculated using the exchange rate at time of booking. Payment accepted in £UK or €Euro Dates are flexible with extra days calculated at a pro-rata rate.
