Casa Lucia was an old olive press which Dennis Androutsopoulos restored and rebuilt into 8 cottages, each one with its own character, size and aspect, its own garden and verandah space with garden chairs, table, umbrella and sun-loungers - the White which is on the first floor of the two-storey building has a secluded balcony. Portable BBQs are available, or there is a main built one for larger parties. Indoors, the cottages have a full kitchen with hobs, oven, fridge, electric kettle and toaster and ample china, cutlery and cooking equipment. Comfort and cleanliness are emphasised, with daily maid service and twice-weekly linen change. The gardens are full of trees, lawns, flowering shrubs and flower beds - children can play happily on the grass. The swimming pool has been completely resurfaced with a beautiful mosaic frieze; the pergolas are shaded by fragrant jasmine and brilliant trumpet vines; there are plenty of sun loungers, tables and chairs for meals and drinks and games. There is a shallow end for children; night swimming by arrangement, floodlit or not. Several special weeks take place featuring t'ai chi, yoga, poetry, music and painting - suggestions are always welcome. Guests may take part if they wish, or may take advantage of the many therapies available by appointment on site. Reception is nearly always open, Val Osborne Androutsopoulou, the owner-manager, lives on site and will help with information, arranging excursions, special activities, and any special requests. Her staff are friendly and fun.

    • Casa Lucia is a calm oasis in a beautiful island. Its old buildings, lovingly restored, the famous gardens, a unique swimming pool and the friendly atmosphere generated by local staff and helpful but unobtrusive management combine to make it a place people return to again and again - friendships are forged, children play safely and happily, occasional parties take place: and many alternative therapies are available on site - t'ai chi, yoga, aromatherapy, Indian head massage, shiatsu, reiki are some. Many just come to relax and do their own thing. While telephone, fax, internet, and television are all available, they are not in your cottage - you are allowed to escape their pressure altogether if you wish. Air conditioning has not been installed in order to contribute a small help to our planet - thick stone walls and fans in each room keep you cool enough. Each cottage is well maintained, furnished and equipped; daily maid service.
