Ermones, an enchanting place that has attracted inhabitants since ancient times. According to some, Ulysses reached Ermones while returning to Ithake.
Only 15 KM from the city, its location enables you to modify the type of your holiday.
Apart from Ermones there are many beaches in the surrounding area, secluded ones (Myrtiotissa), cosmopolitan (Clyfada), approachable only by sea (Giali), while the marine area is protected by the Natura 2000 treaty.
The underwater cares -a diving expedition in them is an unforgettable experience-as much as the others provide a great fishing place for the experienced.
While boat-trips lovers can find secluded beaches modified every year by the sea.
If you decide to take a stroll you will have the ideal chance of admiring the natural beauty of the area. Going down towards Ropa Valley, you get the opportunity, upon choice, of walking through the Golf Course and playing a round with the best players in Europe, while if it has been raining you will see many wild birds in the ponds that have been formed in the surrounding area. As you continue, you find yourselves in front of the Theotokis property, the well-known family of politicians and you will see the graveyards that provide one of the best Crowfoot wines.
Going up on Agios Georgios Mountain, which overlooks the area, you find yourselves in a natural Mediterranean forest and the wild landscape of limestone that forms a lot of caves.
When you reach the highest point (397m), Ag. Georgios Monastery, you get a panoramic view of Corfu as well as a wonderful sunset, as the sunsets into the sea.
As you climb down you may walk through Kelia, a small traditional neighborhood, and admire St. Nicolas old church (built in 14th century), before you reach Vatos village, a beautiful little village traditionally built where you can rest for a while and enjoy a drink at the square café.
Although the area is touristicallly developed, its traditional features have not been altered. You will be able to find beautiful lodges as well as A and B category hotels and you can have fresh fish or try traditional Corfu dishes such as sofrito, bourdeto or pastitsado at small tavernas by the sea.
