Vacation Rental Description
Villa Primavera is a simple, traditional Greek house on the edge of the unspoiled village of Assomatos, about 300 metres above sea level. A short path beyond the ancient church leads to the front of the villa from where there is a stunning 120 degree sea view from Kalymnos island in the west to the Turkish coast north of Bodrum. The house is at the end of the little used path, so its location is quiet and secluded.
All rooms have terracotta tiled floors and the 3 unconnected twin bedrooms have en-suite showers, large fitted wardrobes and wooden beamed ceilings. There are 2 terraces and a large grass area in front of the house, all of which have the amazing view. The grass area is suitable for sunbathing, lunch with an even bigger and more entrancing panorama, or just relaxing with a drink.
Life for the locals around Assomatos has hardly changed for generations. They can still be seen living with their goats, donkeys, turkeys and hens and the pervading sense of peace and tranquility makes this the perfect place for quiet relaxation.
There are many beautiful walks among the attractive trees and pine forests which adorn the nearby hills. Even the summit of Mount Dikeos can be reached quite easily by the more energetic. A 20 minute walk or a 5 minute drive takes you the 1 Km to the popular village of Zia, the view from which is lamost as good as in Assomatos. It has many shops selling local produce and gifts, and at least 10 restaurants. Bill Clinton and other luminaries ate at one of them, Oromedon, in 2003. In 2010 it was determined by the leading food guide in Athens to be the best restaurant in Kos and one of the top 40 in Greece.
Kos town, with its beautiful harbour, Crusader fortress, ancient ruins and many restaurants and bars, is a 20 minute drive. The C3rd hospital the Asklepion (see below) is a 15 minutes drive along a hilltop road running behind Assomatos.
Tigaki, the nearest beach, which has a long expanse of white sand, is 12 minutes by car or scooter. There are other easily accessible sandy beaches along the northern shores with restaurants and sunbeds in abundance, particularly at Mastihari and Kos town. Kardamena to the south has a long stretch of sand and also offers paragliding, water-skiing and jet-skiing. Mpros Therma to the south east of Kos Town has hot springs bubbling out of the pebbles into a pool surrounded by rocks.

Kos has many Greek and Roman ruins, including those of the C3rd Asklepion hospital where Hippocrates, the father of medicine, taught, the ancient fortress and walls of the old town, an original Greek theatre and many beautiful mosaics. Whilst retaining much of its original character, the island’s capital has become a busy tourist centre with numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs. A colourful variety of yachts and fishing boats are moored along the seafront beside the 15th century Castle of the Knights of St John. Day trips can be taken other islands including Pserimos and Kalymnos or to Bodrum, Turkey.
20 mins away Tam Tam is a sophisticated bar and restaurant above a beach, with good food, palm trees and cool music. H2O Bar in Kos Town is modern and chic, and right beside the water.
There are 2 wineries below the hill villages, which produce good wine. In August and September there are wild figs on trees near the house.
