Visit our very special house in Sifnos in the Cyclades. 
Few places so perfectly preserve the ideal of the classic white Greek island village the way Kastro, Sifnos does – no cars, no development, no cheap hotels – just pristine 14th century architecture, and a maze of narrow lanes that all end in spectacular views over the clear Aegean. It's said that the Renaissance began when scholars discovered ancient Greek texts in Constantinople, reigniting the study of science and mathematics in Europe. Kastro, on Sifnos, is an opportunity to visit that very moment in the history of the Western world, because Kastro is a Venetian outpost, part of the trading network that connected Venice with Constantinople, during the 12th 13th and 14th centuries. Our house, just inside the town's main gate, sits at the very heart of this astonishingly preserved architectural monument. To lovers of history, Kastro is breath-taking, to students of architecture it is an endless source of fascination. To anyone wanting to spend a quiet couple of weeks, soaking up the sun, and swimming in crystal blue water against a backdrop of unique beauty, it is absolutely perfect. The ingenious 14th century building design uses metre thick walls to insulate and natural convection currents to keep the house cool on the hottest days. Deep window and door alcoves trap the brilliant Aegean light to spectacular effect. This comfortable house has been modernized carefully - with sparse charm and a well-stocked kitchen. There is even a small bath - quite an unusual luxury! The bedroom is large. The sitting area can be turned into another sleeping area if neccessary. We have a blow up. The mezannine has a single sofa bed - and on the ground floor a long seat we added last year can also be used as a child's bed. For two, though - this house is perfect! Swim off the flat rocks at the back of the house or discover charming beaches and swim spots by bus or on foot. You will rarely find an experience like our little house in Kastro - please drop us a line with any questions. 

Our representative will meet you in the village and let you in. She will insure that the house is clean and there is clean linen provided. You can request additional cleaning during your stay for a fee. The house is fully self contained with very comfortable beds and is tastefully restored to preserve the authentic nature of this very old building. there are many beautiful swimming locations to explore nearby. Buses, taxis or rented cars or motorcycles provide transportation all over the island where there are fascinating archeology sites, spectacular natural vistas and chic hotels and restaurants.
