3 Bedroom Villa in Kefalas

Villa Marika is situated in the peaceful traditional village Of Kefalas. Described in The Rough Guide as 'absurdly pretty' set on a peaceful hillside with stunning views of the sea and mountains it is nevertheless conveniently situated for the local resorts of Alymirida, Georgeopolis and Kalives for those who like local colour and culture the nearby Venetian cities of Chania and Rethymnon are within an hours drive. A little further afield is The Samaria Gorge and the archaeological site of Knossos for a day trip. This area abounds with interesting and beautiful sights and thereby making it an excellent choice for either a sunshine holiday by the pool or sea or an off season walking or sight seeing holiday. The village itself is served by several excellent tavernas and local kafenions with two small but well equipped supermarkets within a couple of minutes walk. There is also a regular bus service to the town of Chania from the village centre. 
 
The private pool has glorious unimpeded sea views with sunloungers and sun brollies, it is 7.5 m by 3.5m.The house has pretty garden areas with exotic cacti and colourful flowers and palms. There are also a number of terracotta pots filled with geranium etc. There is also an area with barbecue for those balmy Summer evenings. There are several outdoor terraces and 3 outdoor tables for eating alfresco all with beautiful sea and mountain views. 
 
Kefalas is situated for the resort of Alymirida 10-15 mins by car. Georgiopolis 15 mins and Chania 30 mins. Rethymnon 45 mins by car. All these resorts have beautiful beaches and many excellent tavernas and bars. A five minute drive will bring you to the beautiful cove of Ombrosgialos with its clear turquoise waters and super fish taverna. No matter where you drive there are magnificent views of The White Mountains. The village is so well provided with tavernas there is no reason to leave. 
 
In the village there are four excellent tavernas and a number of kafenions. The surrounding villages of Gavalachori, Litsarda Vamos, Drapanos also have many and varied eateries. For children, the pool at the villa is bound to be a draw but for variety the beach of Alymirida is particularly safe. All the local beaches are Blue Flag. The lake at Kournas provides a beautiful setting for a trip on a pedalo with a variety of restaurants to eat at. Outside Chania is Limnapolis the water park, sure to be a big hit with younger members of the family. Those interested in culture and sight-seeing won't be disappointed either. The awe inspiring White Mountains can be seen wherever you drive and trips can be booked for The Samaria Gorge or a number of other gorges such as The Imbros. The village of Kefalas itself is in a gorgeous setting with walks of interest and variety from the doorstep. For those who like shopping the towns of Chania and Rethymnon are a magnet, from the sophisticated to the ethnic they have it all. 
 
Chania Airport 25km open from May -October Heraklion 100km open Easter to October. Crete can also be reached all year by changing at Athens and flying into Chania. Budget airways Jet 2 and EasyJet fly to Heraklion from a number of UK airports as do Thomsonfly and Thomas Cook and Viking.

The nearest cove from which to swim is the turquoise cove of Ombrosgialos five minutes drive from the villa. Alymirida with its beautiful beach and selection of shops and tavernas is approx 10-15 mins by car. The town of Georgiopolis is a similar distance with an excellent selection of restaurants and a vibrant holiday atmosphere. The city of Chania the capital of the region boasting a stunning Venetian harbour is 30 mins away. Rethymnon similarly is about 45 mins away with its dazzling array of shops.There is also a great waterpark situated just outside Chania, great for families
