Upstairs the large shaded terrace faces West so you get a great view of the sunset over the surrounding olive groves. 
 
The double bedroom has a high beamed ceiling and wooden floor, with en-suite bathroom and smaller roof terrace beyond.  
This terrace, adjoining the upstairs en-suite bathroom faces south and east so you can see the sun rise should you wish to get up early! It has a table and two chairs and is a quiet place to read or have breakfast. 
 
Both roof terraces look out over the semi-circular ridge of hills which partly encircle our village of Gavalohori to the south.  
 
Downstairs double doors open onto a garden courtyard to the side of the house, containing a garden table and chairs, a large parasol and barbecue, surrounded by stone walls and a gate to make it totally private. 
The downstairs room has two traditional banquettes which can be made up as single beds if required, an open log fire, and an en-suite shower room.

If you are looking for a holiday house to rent in a real Greek village, our houses give you the peace and quiet of a rural location, within a couple of minutes' walk of Gavalohori village tavernas, cafes and shops. Both our houses have been carefully renovated to keep their original Greek flavour, but also feature the comfort and facilities you would expect to find in a modern villa. Air-conditioning, wireless broadband internet, central heating, house linen etc are included in the price. These traditional Greek villas are privately owned and maintained by us. We are completely independent and not affiliated to any holiday company.

Gavalohori is a working rural village, still retaining its unique personality.  
Explore the old mill workings, ancient wells, tumbled down houses. Three Roman tombs are hidden away in a field by the windy road up to Vamos. Imagine the view as it was, probably not changed too much in 2000 years. 
The local Women’s Co-operative are actively reviving traditional handicrafts, examples of which can be bought in their shop in the village square, which doubles as a street cafe. The village centre has three good tavernas, shops, bakery, souvlaki bar and patisserie. Sometimes live music on Summer evenings  
 
The safe sandy beach & tavernas of Almirida are 5 minutes' drive. Windsurfers, catamarans & kayaks can be hired by the hour from a French sailing school. The beach is sandy and shelves gently, making it ideal for small children Many more beaches, the White Mountains and the Samaria gorge are all in easy reach.

Prices are per house, based on 2 people, extra persons charged at 35/42 Euro per week, up to 4 people. Your stay can be any number of days (minimum 5 days). We will hold a provisional booking while you make your travel arrangements, and transfer your deposit in order to make the booking confirmed. 15% second week discount. We accept payment in Sterling or Euro by bank transfer to our UK or Greek banks. We will send the details of the account that you choose by email. We can also accept payments in Euro through Paypal. We request a small confirmation deposit. As soon as we receive your deposit we will email your confirmation to you. Please settle the remaining balance 6 weeks before you arrive by bank transfer as before. Normal check in time 4pm, check out 10am.
