Aptera hotel is situated on the north-west coast of Crete between the coastal towns of Souda and Kalives. It is an excellent base from which to start your holiday in Greece and explore the many local places of interest. 
 
The hotel is located at Aptera (former Megala Chorafia). The village is home to the Ancient City of Aptera and boasts beautiful views overlooking both Souda Bay and the White Mountains. 
 
We offer visitors the peace and quiet of a small family-run hotel, far from the tourist crowds, noisy nightlife and big hotels. We are 20 km from Chania airport and the nearest port, Souda, is a mere 5 km away. We offer three types of accommodation: studios, one and two bedroom self catering apartments; all furnished in traditional Greek style yet equipped with all modern facilities. 
 
As we are only a stone throw away from the Ancient City of Aptera, we highly recommend a visit to the archaeological site. Leaving your accommodation and going east, within a minute you reach the first signs of the fortifications of the ancient city to welcome you and to provide you with a small glimpse of the scale and the importance of Ancient Aptera. 
 
A short walk (downhill) to the west of the Aptera Hotel, you'll find three local tavernas and a small mini market. On certain days during the summer there is live Greek music in the centre of the village where the three taverns are, and occasionally a local art exhibition.

All apartments are non-smoking and have private bathrooms with shower, fully equipped cooking corner and air-conditioning. A small reception and a café are situated on the ground floor. Breakfast and snacks can be arranged on request for a small charge. Free Wi-Fi is available, a fax and a photocopy machine are also available for a small charge. Mini safes can also be rented at the reception. On the ground floor of the Hotel Aptera you will find a small café ready to provide you with a Continental style breakfast (coffee, tea, fresh orange juice, a selection of cereals, croissants, rolls, bread, cookies, yoghurts, cheese, butter, jam or marmalade, or honey and seasonal fruits).

If you fancy driving five minutes by car you can reach the coastal town of Kalives where you can find banks and ATM's, a post office, supermarkets, souvenir shops, jewellery stores and many more tavernas and bars. Kalives has a number of beautiful, sandy beaches with umbrellas, sun beds, and beach bars - yet there are also stretches that are usually empty. 
 
Driving west from Aptera on the main road that connects Heraklion, Rethimnon, and Chania, the port of Souda is only a few minutes away, where you can find more shops, cafes and supermarkets, a bank and a post office. 
 
Leaving Souda behind, you are entering the outskirts of Chania town, the city centre is another 10 to 15 minutes drive depending on the traffic.
