We watched a spectacular firework display from the balcony on our first evening. We visited the Nürburgring - 'Ring Werk' Theme Park - which was very interesting & swam in the calm Gemundener Maar, walked around Weinfelder Maar and enjoyed "Kaffee und Kuchen" at the Cafe Maarblick overlooking Schalkenmehren Maar - Wonderful! A clean and comfortable base with friendly helpful hosts. Alan & Gisela - Thank you & Best Wishes.

The most spacious and clean apartment we have ever stayed in and it certainly has the most comfortable beds! Location is ideal for exploring the Eifel region which we found quite unique. Alan and Gisela were the perfect hosts, not intrusive but always available if you needed anything and a mine of information on the area. We would certainly recommend these apartments to even the fussiest of our friends. We wish you well in this new venture. We shall continue to look forward to receiving your regular "newsletters". We have had a wonderful time here. The Apartment is lovely, especially the large pillows! The train journey to Trier worth it and Alan & Gisela have been great hosts. We even had our first taste of yellow respberries. Thank you for a great stay. We hope to be back again sometime.

Have had a fantastic holiday with no rain for the whole week. The Apartment was great, lots of room and English TV to boot. Also very clean and modern, a good area that we love due to the nearness of the Nurburgring and the Nordschfeld which we love to do. Some spectacular roads and scenery - great for spirited driving. Hopefully one day we will come back to sample more.

What a wonderful holiday we have had! Apartment was excellent with wonderful hosts. Alan & Gisela have been a font of knowledge about the area. We have had many enjoyable evening conversations - the schnappes was an added bonus! The weather has been superb. The area around Gereolstein and the Moselle has much to offer and we have only just sampled a few of its delights. We hope to return again to sample some more.

Firstly we must say how wonderful our hosts Gisela and Alan have been to us, even going so far as assisting us in finding relatives to do with our family tree in Germany. The weather has been great. The Apartment is excellent. We have been out sightseeing every day and could highly recommend a visit to Monschau; the volcanic lakes at Daun and the 2 Castles at Manderscheid. We will definitely come again.

I am German and my husband is English. I lived in England for over 30 years where we brought up our family. Our children and grandchildren live in England.
We had always planned to move to the magnificent Eifel Region of Germany between the Rhine and Moselle where, within a day, we could also drive to such places Vienna, Venice, Rome, Berlin, Amsterdam, Prague, Paris and others.
When we first saw our property in Gerolstein in October 2008 we knew that we could restore it, not only to create our home, but also 2 spacious luxury apartments of which we are now particularly proud.
As an ex nurse and teacher I bring a high level of professionalism, cleanliness and understanding of guests. As a fluent German and English speaker I am able to help guests when requested.
WHY GEROLSTEIN? Written by my English husband Alan.
We love the area. Without exaggeration the Eifel is a beautiful part of the world. It has a remoteness like Wales, the lake District or even Scotland but with a multitude of castles, lakes and natural activity centres and the next village or town never more than 5 miles away.
The beauty of the volcanic lakes, the closeness of the Rhine & Mosel Rivers, and its central location with close rail, road links makes Gerolstein special.
A day out by train, (station 400m) in beautiful mountainous scenery, to the cities of Cologne or Trier for a group return ticket for 4 adults costs c£20 (also valid for city buses). Get on and off the train as you wish. Close to Nürburgring and Spa.
So much to do, so many places to see. Still to be discovered by the Brits.
CHARLES KINGSLEY (1819 - 1875), author and poet, after his short stay around the middle of the 19th century exuberantly declared that Gerolstein is: “The most wonderful place in my life and during the last three days I am overwhelmed with amazement ..."
