Vacation Rental Description
new acquisition; La Vallée is situated three minutes drive from Maison Verger and La Petite Grange on the edge of an extremely quiet valley with impressive views of the neighbouring countryside. It is a white weather boarded house with blue shutters, built approximately one hundred and fifty years ago and is spacious and sophisticated, sleeping five very comfortably. It is furnished with antique furniture. The house is set in approximately an acre of grounds, which include various fruit trees and an adjacent barn, currently used for storage, mostly of wood for the large inglenook fireplace.
Ground Floor: Entrance to hallway and sitting room with original tiled floor, furnished with comfortable sofas, coffee table, etc . Large inglenook fireplace. Leads to a conservatory with French doors to a terrace and far reaching views of the area. The conservatory also has sofas.
Outside: gravelled area with outdoor table, parasol and chairs. Terrace to rear. Barbeque.
La Vallée has a cd player, radio, dvd player and an extensive library. There is full gas central heating and logs for open fires. Duvets and pillows are provided for all beds.
Please note that this is a non-smoking property, like our other houses. Sorry no pets.
Facilities
Dining Area: French farmhouse table which seats six, dining chairs and candelabra. Library.
Ground floor bedroom: Single four poster bed, separate washroom with w.c. and wash hand basin. Built in cupboards.
Kitchen: Well fitted with two fridges/freezer, antique dresser, range cooker with gas hob and electric ovens, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, etc.
Boiler room.

Double bedroom with double bed, antique French armoire, chest of drawers, large windows overlooking front of house and en suite bathroom – bath, wash hand basin, hand shower and w.c.

The smaller town of Cormeilles, some five minutes drive, is very pretty with a number of bars, restaurants, antique shops and food shops. There is an excellent tour (in English) of the Calvados distillery.
There are some very interesting museums in the area. The Peace Museum (Musee de Paix) in Caen is exceptional and gives a very moving account of both World Wars. There are two very good war museums in Falaise and Bayeux; maritime museum in Honfleur and Fecamp and the Museum of Art in Trouville.
The Normandy landing beaches and the Bayeux tapestry are all accessible, taking about an hour to reach.
Monet's garden at Giverny is approximately just over an hour’s drive and is well worth a visit but gets a little crowded in the tourist season.
Le Bec Hellouin, south of Pont Audemer, is a picturesque village, where you can wander round the abbey grounds.

- Travel Info: We are 20 miles from the ferry at Le Havre and an hour from Ouistreham (Caen). The Channel Tunnel/Calais/Boulogne is three hours away by fast motorway. The nearest airport is Chas.de Gaulle in Paris. Cars can be hired at Bernay (20 mins).
