Enjoy a relaxing break in an authentic 16th century Bourguignon style castle. The most ancient known proprietors of Chateau de Tigny were the noble family des Fourniers. Captain- Chatelain of Charlieu was lord of the manor house back in 1528.
The chateau is set in a beautiful rural backdrop complete with twin towers, pigeonnair and moat. For the keen angler there is a 12 acre, well stocked Carp Lake set in front of the chateau with Carp, up to 45lb. As this is a privately owned lake, night fishing is permitted. Choose from accommodation in the chateau or the Drive-Survive option with excellent on site facilities.
You can stay in a luxury suite complete with a romantic Four-Poster bed. Linen and towels are provided as well as a continental breakfast. Airport pick-up & drop off's can be provided if required.
The chateau is in walking distance of many local amenities and the charming medieval village of Charlieu. The village is steeped in history with many attractions such as the Abbey Benedictine. The village of Charlieu was founded in 875 by Benedictine monks from Touraine. There are also a beautiful church, museums, plus many bars, shops and restaurants. The village is surrounded by country lanes and woodland, ideal for walking, cycling and enjoying the fresh country air.
The chateau is also an excellent venue for painters. Located within the grounds are the pigeonnair, an old mill, The historic national monument "the Devil's Bridge", the lake and of course the Chateau itself, which all lend themselves as excellent subjects for artists.
There are many other activities in the surrounding villages such as canoeing/kayaking on the Loire River. You can chose from a Barge museum, the Equestrian Centre for horse riding, or maybe a round of Golf? The region is full of many things for your enjoyment.
