This wonderful alpine village and resort has everything you need including: a great atmosphere, 265 km of pistes accessible from the village centre, regular free shuttle bus service, all shops and amenities situated around the lovely picturesque village centre, ample free car parking next to the main gondola from where you can ski the whole of the Grand Massif including Flaine, Morillon, Samoens and Sixt Fer a Cheval. Les Carroz is not a purpose built resort - it is a pretty village with origins of the resort dating back to 1939 when the first drag lift was installed, which at the time was the longest in Europe. It is often said that Les Carroz appears to have its own micro climate with consistently excellent snow and skiing conditions as envied by higher altitude resorts. The main hub of the village is a traditional busy square where you can find cafes, restaurants, numerous ski hire outlets, butchers, bakers, supermarkets, tourist information, cinema, local food specialists, some very nice boutiques and even a nightclub! Marlow's is a great apres ski sun catcher and has happy hour specials, There is also an outdoor ice skating rink in Les Carroz centre which is great fun for children and adults of all ages in Winter. In summer the sports centre offers a heated outdoor pool, tennis courts, a skate park, a brand new fitness and exercise circuit, a beach volley ground, and suggests a lot of varied entertainment. Les Carroz is a pleasant change from the hustle and bustle of many main stream ski resorts and makes for a perfect family ski holiday destination. The Residence Athena apartment complex is located close to the centre of the Les Carroz mountain village resort. Entirely renovated in 2009 (converted from an old barn), the residence has 34 well equipped apartments with covered parking, ski lockers and a balcony or terrace. It is nestled in the heart of a lush green setting, about 2km from Les Carroz centre and 3km from the lifts and slopes - with the first shops including a bakery only 1km away. In season, a free shuttle service is available for your transfers between the apartment complex (100m), ski lifts, ESF ski school meeting points and town centre. Our apartment has recently been renovated and has all new fixtures and fittings. Bedroom 1 has double bed, bedroom 2 has two single beds, cabine with 2 bunk beds, sofa bed sleeps 2. Table seats 8. The property is in a picturesque area with lovely views from the windows. There is a balcony accessible from the lounge. There is a floodlit footpath that leads to the traditional village of of Lez Carroz or alternatively there is a shuttle bus at the end of the road. Les Carroz is a family resort with lovely restaurants, bars and great snow and ideal for beginners/intermediates. Easy access to Flaine and Samoens.
