2 Bedroom Farmhouse in Ardeche

Le Vitrier offers a comfortable and spacious 2 bedroomed holiday home in a wing of our traditional stone Ardechoise farmhouse. throughout its' 200 year history the property has been used for arable and stock farming, to a long period of growing the celebrated local terraced 'St Joseph' Syrah grapes and more recently a productive Cherry and Apricot farm. Hidden, like so many Ardechoise properties on the side of a hill covered with wonderful Quercus Ilex, evergreen oak trees, the developers of this tiny hamlet wanted to maximise the situation overlooking the wonderful views of the Rhone river, celebrated Hermitage vineyards and Vercors mountains to the East.  
 
We like to think that we continue their hard work and have transformed the farm into a home and peaceful holiday destination for discerning guests who enjoy the history, activities, gastronomy, flora and forna that the region has to offer. We offer a much slower pace of life than can be found in the busy local market towns and villages of the Ardeche and Drome, but they are only a few minutes drive away to visit. Our property extends down to the lovely Doux river and the small beach there can be accessed by foot or car.  
 
Many village markets specialise locally grown produce from the region including vegetable, cheeses, fruits and meats. We also have 4 Michelin starred restaurants within a 30 minute drive of the farm and plenty more excellent local restaurants to explore for foodies. As for the wine, well there really is far too much history to describe here. It would probably be best to google the area for wine before you visit, we are more than happy to introduce local winemakers and sellers to guests, many of whom are both neighbours and friends.  
 
Across the water just 15 minutes away in Tain L'Hermitage is arguably the most famous chocolate factory in the world, Valrhona, where you can sample and buy as large or small a piece of heaven as you like.  
 
Whether you are interested in lazing around in the garden under the shade of cherry trees, just venturing out now and again for a panini and glass of wine in a local bar, or exploring the wide range of places to visit and activities to do, we are happy to welcome you to Le Vitrier and hope you will enjoy getting to know the local area and simple discoveries to be found here as much as we do.

The gite has a well equipped kitchen and a gas barbecue in the garden. Linen and towels are provided in the rental fee and small items such as hair dryer and coffee pot and ipod dock (please bring dock cradle) are also standard. Wi fi access is available for a small fee. We can provide secure storage for bicycles and any other specialist sports equipment guests bring and sell home grown vegetables and eggs when in season.

Vineyard and Cave visits are arranged by the tourist office in Tournon sur Rhone and advice about local events is always available. The 31st August sees the annual Onion Fair which is a big event and takes over the whole town for the day. If there are activities that you specially would like to do, we are happy to source these for guests.
