Le Mas du Chene is a charmingly restored stone-built silk farm located in the northern part of Provence. This character property is set in its own grounds of 3 acres with fruit orchard, olive trees and impressive views into the Ardeche Mountains, it is surrounded by farmland.

The sunny swimming pool, 11 x 5m, has wide terraces, sun loungers and a large wooden sundeck; a solar-heated pool shower and summer kitchen. Table tennis and outdoor games are available and guests are welcome to enjoy ball games on the large grassy areas or simply find a quiet corner to read in the gardens.

There are two self contained cottages for rent; furnished and equipped to a high standard they both provide comfortable airy accommodation. Each has its own private garden with terraces and barbecue.

The L'Atelier cottage was recently converted from the old barn. This renovation was done in sympathy with the period features of the farm to provide spacious and comfortable accommodation. It has the added advantage of a large covered terrace that looks out over the pool into the Ardeche hills in the distance. This outside room has been a success with past visitors; it is ideal for dining and relaxation.
The well furnished, spacious sitting/dining room has high beamed ceilings; with French doors leading to the terrace.
The kitchen is well equipped and has an additional small dining area.
The main bedroom on the ground floor; has a double bed, dressing table and ad chest of drawers.
The second bedroom with two full size single beds is located on the spacious mezzanine reached by open tread stairs. There is ample wardrobe and storage space throughout.
The small private garden is facing the pool; it has a covered and a cobbled terrace plus a small lawn. There are outdoor dining furniture, loungers and a BBQ.

The nearest village of any size is Le Pouzin about five minutes from Le Mas du Chene. It has all the essential commerce needed; bank, post office, chemist, supermarket, tobacconist, restaurants and bars, an excellent bakers, butcher, hairdresser, garage, doctor, dentist.

The Southern French climate makes Ardeche suitable for holidays from early spring to late autumn – with all the benefits of Provence without the crowds. This part of Ardeche offers many circular walks and dazzling cycle rides. You can go on wine trips, canoe down the rivers, go climbing, walk the treetops or simply relax by the pool.

There is plenty of opportunity to eat out in some of the fine local restaurants, there is a varied choice from small bistros to Michelin starred establishments. Or why not make the most of all the fine local produce; visit the markets and enjoy fresh peaches, cheries, melons, olives, cheeses, charcuterie to name just some of the things the region has to offer.

This area is excellent for canoeing and rafting; make the descent of the Ardeche or Drome rivers.

There is a communal tennis court in St Lager Bressac that can be reserved.

The Golf course set in the exceptional surroundings of “Domaine de la Valdaine” near Montelimar is only half an hour away. It offers an 18 hole golf course with practice and training zones.

There are dozens of waymarked circular Walks starting at le Mas du Chene and nearby villages, taking you through some stunning scenery and historical sites.

Cycle routes to suite every ability are easily reached from the house. The L'Ardechoise cycle race in June is a big event for enthusiasts and spectators with several thousand participants.

Tree parks - swing from treetop to treetop in complete safety!

There are many festivals during summer and autumn. Two famous Jazz festivals; Vienne - end of June to early July and Crest in early August.

Le Mas du Chene is located within the Côtes du Rhône wine region where fruit and wine growing are important.

The mild climate makes this an ideal place to spend spring and autumn; the area is perfect for walking, biking, climbing and bird watching. We have information on many circular walking and cycling routes within the nearby area, starting from Le Mas du Chene and nearby villages taking you through some spectacular scenery and historical sites.

The Gorges d'Ardeche, with it's fast flowing river, waterfalls and spectacular scenery is the place for canoeing.

‘Golf de la Valdaine’ is located 14 miles away.

You will find many historical and cultural sites in the area such as the spa town Vals-les-Bains.
Montelimar, Privas and Valence are all about 20 minutes away and offer good shopping and good restaurants.
Historical Orange / Avignon / Lyon / Marseille/ Aix-en-Provence are all within easy reach - excellent days out!

The Kitchen is well equipped it has a large Fridge-freezer, owen, gas hob as well as kettle, coffee maker and toaster.

Bed linen and towels are provided, please bring your own swimming & sunbathing towels. For stays of more than one week fresh linen is provided weekly.

Arrival pack of groceries to your specification can be provided at a charge if requested one week before arrival.

Low Season Price : €525
High Season Price : €1080 per Week

A 25% deposit is required to confirm your booking; the balance is payable 8 weeks before arrival.

To secure weeks in coming years we accept a 10% initial booking fee to be followed by a further 15% to complete the deposit by the 15th January of the year of the actual holiday.

We are happy to discuss rates for stays of 3 weeks or more, outside high season.

A fully refundable breakage reserve of 300 Euros is required with your balance of payment. This will be refunded on departure if the property can be inspected or no later than 2 weeks after departure, less the cost of any breakages or damage caused to the property or its contents during your stay. (We do not deduct for minor breakages i.e. the odd glass, plate, cup)

All persons must be covered by personal and accidental damage insurance.

Electricity may be chargeable according to usage and season.

An optional cleaning service is available at 50 Euros per week.
