Vacation Rental Description
Set in the pine and oak forest on the hillside overlooking the Lac de Carces in the Var region of Provence, 'La Regalade' is a lovely recently renovated and fully equippped villa consisting of two double bedrooms (one with double bed, the other with twin beds), a 'chambre d'ami' single bedroom off the living room patio with ensuite shower and WC, main bathroom and separate WC. the double bedrooms open out onto a tree-shaded terrace and the living area onto a small terrace and swimming pool with views over the Lac de Carces and the terraced gardens below. Bed and bath linen is included. Hot water is supplied by a gas boiler which also doubles as central heating during the winter months. The open plan living dining area is comfortably furnished with a sofa bed, armchairs, TV (local channels), DVD player and the kitchen is equipped with a 4 burner gas hob, electric oven, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and the usual household appliances. The outdoor pool is 6.60 metres long, 3.50 metres wide and 1.50 metres at its deepest point and is equipped with a pool alarm in accordance with French norms.
Just 10 minutes from Cabasse and Carces (supermarket, local shops, bakery, restaurants etc.) and 15 minutes from the main town of the area Brignoles with its busy market and shopping centre, this lovely three-bedroom villa lies in the secluded Village du Lac de Carces. Surrounded by oak and pine woods the area may seem off the beaten track, but within 25 minutes you can find yourself on the motorway A8 connecting Aix-en-Provence to the west, Cannes and Nice to the East and the A57 to Toulon and Hyeres to the South. The sandy beaches at Frejus, Hyeres and St. Tropez beckon in a mere 45 minutes or so. In 20 minutes you can be scaling the marked climbs in the Vallon Sourn and a further 30 minutes brings you to the magnificent Gorges du Verdon, France's answer to the Grand Canyon, a rockclimbers, hikers and water sports paradise. In 20 minutes you can be teeing off on the fairways of the lush Barbaroux golf club.
For the less sporty there are the wall-to-wall vineyards and olive groves with the wonderful fesh wines of the region to taste at the innumerable village 'Cooperatives' as well as the more upmarket 'Domaines' and 'Chateaux'. every day is market day in one of the sourrounding villages of Carces, Cotignac,Aups, Lorgues and Salernes where a myriad of fresh cheeses, salamis, local delicacies, fruit, vegetables and ready-made dishes are temptingly displayed along with local arts and crafts. Village festivals abound throughout the summer season and are well worth a visit with informationabout them and other activities being readily available at the tourist offices found in most villages
Culture vultures will not come amiss either with historic Abbaye du Thoronet holding concerts throughout the summer months and plenty of other events such as Jazz concerts at the Chateau de Berne in Lorgues and opera in Toulon and Aix-en-Provence. Art galleries abound from the famous Granet Museum in Aix to the Matisse and Chagalle museums in Nice, the Leger museum in Biot, the impressive Galerie Maecht in St. Paul de Vence (itself well worth a visit as one of the prettiest hiltop villages in France.
Not to be missed is the lovely unspoilt village of Entrecasteaux where concerts are held in the Chateau that dominates the village square and where, believe it or not, cricket is played throughout the summer by nostalgic expats.

Bed and bath linen is provided and included in the price whilst visitors are requested not to take them to the beach. Cleaning service can be arranged if required although obviously the villa will be clean on arrival.
Outside by the pool there are sunbeds, umbrella, dining tables and chairs as well as a gas barbecue. Visitors are requested to avoid use of glasssware by the pool in case of breakages as boken glass is invisible in the pool and can cause serious injury to the unwary. In accordance with French law a pool alarm system is provided and must be in use whenever there are children present.

There are leaflets and maps in the villa giving details on all the above activities and further information is readily available at the Carces Office du Tourisme but to summarise tennis is available in Carces, Golf at the picturesque Barbaroux golf club about 15 minutes by car. Kayaking is on the river Argens which runs through Carces and also on the Verdon Canyon. Sailing and all non motorised boating is available at the Lac de St. Croix, waterskiing and the like on the sea coast. The Lac de Carces is a favourite venue for fishermen (carp mostly) and the rivers are full of trout for which licenses can be obtained from the town hall. There are several horse ranches within 20 minutes where horserides into the surrounding forests can be arranged. The marked climbs in the Vallon Sourn (20 mins.by car)are a big attraction. Great climbing in the Verdon, but guides are recommended.
