Vacation Rental Description
Bormes-les-Mimosas is a picturesque, provencal medieval village. Famous for its flowers and narrow old streets. A 12th century village located on a hill facing the Mediterranean sea, Bormes provides a beautiful example of medieval architecture with its arches, ramparts and castle ruins.
DESCRIPTION OF THE HOUSE . The property is a typical 19th century village home on three floor levels with a narrow, winding stairway inside. The house is furnished with antique furniture. (if you are looking for a “three star lodging” our house is not for you!).It has four bedrooms, a living room , a kitchen and two bathrooms. It has also electricity, hot and cold water, shuttered windows and a red earthen tile floor. In cool weather, the house is equipped with electric radiators and a permanent unit (located in the upper dining room).
The entrance door is located at the beginning of a small pedestrian street where it is safe for children to play.
- Upper floor description:
The upper floor is light and airy, and has a nice view of the village. It has an equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, an electric stove with an oven, a microwave oven, a table where 4 people can sit, cabinets with pots and dishes, but no dishwasher. There is a large living room with a dining table with 6 chairs and a color TV-VCR-DVD in a corner with four armchairs.A large, modern armoire has linens and towels. Finally, the upper floor has a small separated bathroom with a sit-in bathtub with a hand-held shower, a sink and a sit-down toilet. There is telephone with an answering machine in the living room and a portable AC unit.
- Ground floor description (rez-de-chaussee):
The first floor, with high ceilings, has two bedrooms and a toilet. The master-bedroom has a queen size bed, a modern armoire with hangers and shelves with a nice view on the village. Against an interior wall is a sink with hot and cold water behind a curtain. There is also an antique armoire which is locked. The master-bedroom also has a telephone. The second bedroom has a single bed, a desk, a sink with hot, and cold water next to the washing machine with a nice view on a small medieval pedestrian lane. There is a separated bathroom with a toilet and a sink.
- Lower level description
The lower level, with low, arched ceilings, has two rooms and a bathroom. One room is locked for our private use. The available room has two single beds and a nice view on the village. The room has a small corner kitchenette (sink, electric stove (2 hotplates), small refrigerator, counter and cupboards. The bathroom has a stand-up shower, a toilet, mirror and sink. There is a telephone in the bedroom.
The house is furnished with linens and towels (including for a beach) located in an upper closet and some beach equipment in the rez-de-chaussee one bedroom storage closet. There is a washing machine in the single bedroom on the ground floor.
- Email, laptop, international calls
Our phone line is opened for local calls only. Wifi is available in the house. There is a cyber café with access to Internet at the bottom of the village, at Le Pin, not far from the grocery store Huit a Huit. It is called BPC Informatique.
Not a place for handicapped people.
Bormes is a hill village and our home is on three levels.
Parking: Parking can be a problem during July and August. If you have a small car you can park on rue de l’Ormeau small square: if not leave the car near the Post Office. Always lock your car while in France and it is prudent not to leave valuables and bags in the car.
Food and local wines: are all excellent! There are many restaurants and cafes withi a walking distance a few minutes away.
Finally, a housekeeper will stop the day of your arrival to check if everything is fine. She will be your local contact and clean the house at the end of your stay.
