This spacious, beautifully designed villa with an outdoor swimming pool is located in the quartier Ste. Anne, just outside the historic medieval village of Entrecasteaux. It is on a private hillside with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, in the heart of the Var region of Provence. The area offers many unspoiled villages, historic sites and other attractions. Nearby are the Gorges du Verdon, the chateau of Entrecasteaux and the Abbey de Thoronet.


ACCOMMODATIONS:

The villa has an open design with an upscale kitchen, three bedroom en suite, a large living/dining room with fireplace and it is beautifully finished throughout. The house is fully furnished with all the modern conveniences (electric heating, electric stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and a large American refrigerator with ice maker). The villa is on a two acre lot of flowering shrubs, cypress, pine, olive and fig trees. It is maintained to preserve the unspoiled natural beauty of its rugged environment. One can refresh and relax by the outdoor swimming pool while taking in the splendid view of the Provençal countryside and distant hills. The adjacent outdoor patio offers a perfect setting for tranquil al fresco evening meals and sunny breakfasts.

DINING

A wide range of good restaurants are found in the region. The world famous chef, Alain Ducasse, has two establishments in splendid settings within an hour’s drive. France’s truffle king, Clement Bruno, is located near Lourges where truffles are savored in every dish. There are also a large variety of excellent restaurants in other near-by areas such as in Tourtour, a charming mountain-top village with commanding views all the way to the Mediterranean Sea.


SIDE TRIPS

The Villa is within an hour's drive of Aix-en-Provence, Nice and the Côte d'Azur. While there you can walk in the steps of Cezanne at Aix, view old Nice as it was seen by Matisse, and other well known impressionists. The French Riviera beaches offer warmth and beauty while the city of St. Tropez and the casino of Monte Carlo provide a touch of exciting glamour and fashion. Not to be missed is Cannes with its famous film festival, or the perfume factories of Grasse. Provence's lavender fields, in full bloom in the month of July, are also within an hour's drive to the northwest. Longer trips can take you to historic Avignon featuring the incredible Papal Palace and the famous Saint Bénezet Bridge. Continue to Arles, the soul of Provence, and see the vistas of Van Gough where he painted his most celebrated works.

There are several vineyards in the area to explore with opportunities to sample and buy very good Provençal wines. You can visit recognized vineyards, such as Chateau Tuerry near Villecroze, or Clos des Oupaloux in Cotignac, or enjoy very good rosés on tap at various wine cooperatives. Even the delectable wines of Bandol are within easy reach at the coast west of Toulon.
