Vacation Rental Description
Skiing only 3 kms! Walks, climbing, via ferrata, cycling only the doorstep. This is our family home of 8 years and we only let it a few weeks a year so it is full of character, cosy and well equipped. During the high seasons of summer and winter the nearby resorts of Superdevoluy and La Joue du Loup are open for all types of family activities, from swimming pools and mini-golf to shops and cafes, to markets, organised trips and games... great for family skiing and wintersports. As we are not actually in the resorts you get all the benefits of French country life without actually having to put up with all the bustle of a ski station! The house itself is semi-detached, the other half being occupied be a delightful French family who work in the resorts and are key people in the local community. The house feels completely self-contained and you can have as much or as little to do with the neighbours as you like - they are generous with their time, their friendship and their home grown vegetables! The area is rich in outdoor activities or you can just sit back and enjoy! Outside the 2 high seasons there is only a small local shop so you will want to motor down to Veynes, 25 minutes, to stock up with food. Veynes also has much to appreciate as well as its own swimming lake with cafe, ideal for cooling off in Summer.

    • Some of the activities are only available when the resorts are open in high season summer and winter. Family swims and watersports are nearby - sailing and windsurfing etc are better found about 50 minutes away on the large lake of Serre Poncon. Locally there are also Via Ferrata and these, along with good rock climbing can even be walked to from the front door, with your harness on!

    The Devoluy region of France is hidden away, still wild and relatively undiscovered. There are 2 mountain resorts there but the chalet owners are there only for the 'seasons' and even when there don't tend to go outside the resorts too much - so it's quite possible to have solitary walks and even skiing (occasionally!).

    • Travel Info: A car is almost essential. 2 hours drive from Grenoble airport, 2.5 from Marseille.

    NOTE - as well as full house rental we also sometimes offer B & B or very flexible breaks such as mid week or short break - just ask! On confirmation a contract is sent to you and a deposit of 25% taken. The balance is payable on arrival. A 250€ deposit is required against damages etc. 50€ is required to cover cleaning but this too will be returned if you clean well and our cleaner isn't required (we are currently reviewing this in light of last year's experiences).
