Summer and winter: relaxing, bright and spacious self-catering apartment in Vence - on first floor with elevator. Situated just outside the picturesque mediaeval walled village of Vence, near enough to walk for warm croissants for breakfast! Vence has excellent food shops, restaurants and markets, Roman foundations and is located in the foothils of the Alps between Nice and Grasse.

Furnished as a comfortable home, the apartment is available all year round. Popular in summer, it has central heating and is also warm and cosy in winter - ideal location for mountain walkers. In a quiet location with mountain views across valley from the large dining patio, 50 ft terrace and windows in all main rooms.
The apartment block is situated in a quiet location at the bottom of a steep drive, overlooking a farm in the valley.

The large living room has sliding glass doors on two sides. There are two twin-bedded bedrooms, two toilets, bathroom/shower and fully equipped kitchen.

In an area for art lovers, the changing view of the mountains throughout the day illustrates why so many famous artists have lived in the area because of the qality of light (viz. local museums for Chagal, Matisse, Leger, Picasso, Renoir).

Reserved parking by the terrace is included in rental, also linen.

Minimum let is 7 days - arrival dates are flexible to suit the visitors.

The area is rich in history and art, and has easy access by autoroute to Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Avignon, Cannes, Antibes (and other Roman centres), Monte Carlo, Menton and all the famous resorts of the French Riviera. Under 2 hrs. drive to the French winter sports ski slopes of Auron, Isola and others. Under an hour to the Italian border town - and huge Friday market - of Ventimiglia and the Italian coastal towns.

Vence is ideally located for signtseeing the historic medieval 'perched villages' of which the nearest are the famous St Paul de Vence with the Colombe d'Or restaurant and Tourette sur Loup, populated by craftsmen in their studio shops. Elegant shops in Nice and Cannes, village markets daily in Vence. The Matisse chapel is in Vence, as is the 'cathedral' with a Chagal mosaic. Art lovers will be stunned by the Maeght Foundation art gallery.

Seaside and beaches are within easy reach by car, and there are public pools for adults and children in Vence.

  • The kitchen is fully equipped, and guests will also find table linen and matching crockery for the large dining tables in the apartment or on the terrace, both of which seat 6 in comfort. Food shops, supermarkets and daily markets of local produce are all available in the centre of Vence. There are numerous restaurants in Vence and all the villages and towns around. The two twin-bed bedrooms are at opposite ends of the apartment, affording privacy. There are two toilets and plenty of space for 4 people to stay there. Parking on reserved lot, laundry and cleaning after guests leave are included in the rental.

  • Look out of the windows of the apartment to be tempted to walk on the mountains or go rock climbing - St. Jeannet is a centre for the latter.

    Roaming through the old walled town of Vence is a trip through the ages, as the mediaeval houses jostle for space with bakeries, fishmonger and shops with delicious freshly made take-away meals.

    Located just outside the ancient walled village of Vence, the apartment is in a modern block with central heating in winter, and glass doors which open to terrace and patio in summer. As the building is down a steep drive, it is protected from traffic noise from the road above. There is a farm immediately below the apartment which overlooks a valley to mountains with the Alps beyond.

    This apartment is ideal for a winter holiday - large, warm and cosy.

    Access by road is easy to Nice, Cannes, Monte Carlo and all the highlights of the Cote d'Azur including the Italian Ligurian coast. Drive inland and search out the mediaeval 'perched' villages of the region and the stunning mountain scenery.

    • Nearest Train Station : Cagnes sur Mer at 9 kilometers distance
    • Nearest Town : Nice at 16 kilometers distance
    • Travel Info: The apartment is about 300 metres from the walls of the old City - a short walk into town. Buses run to Nice down the road on which the apartment block is located, so a car is not necessary though it is recommended. The bus runs from Nice Airport to Vence, or take a taxi (aprox €45)from Nice to the apartment.

    We spent a week here in July 2010 and immediately felt at home. The apartment is fully equipped and furnished and has everything that one could possibly want ,including cookery books! The views from the living room,kitchen and main bedroom are magnificent and we were particularly impressed by the peace and quiet of the setting even though the apartment is just a 5 minute walk from the town centre. The owner is delightful and rang on the first evening to ensure that everything was in order. She was most helpful and friendly.
    The town itself has plenty of good restaurants and is well placed for sightseeing. The neighbouring village of St Paul de Vence is a must. We also spent an afternoon on the beach at Cagnes-sur-Mer which was readily accessible.
    We will definitely return to this lovely apartment and beautiful area and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

    We are back in Germany and miss our time in Vence, where we felt very well - the coast, the town, the markets, the hills, the weather and last but not least, your dwelling.

    Good experience at Les Chenes Verts

    We stayed in the apartment in Les Chenes Verts in Vence for a short week in the early spring and found it perfect for our needs - a family of four with two teenagers.

    The apartment is clean and well kept, everything worked perfectly, once we'd figured out the use of the numerous keys ;-))

    The living room is big and has a beautiful view of the mountains and the kitchen is well equipped. We cooked several dinners in the kitchen and enjoyed the fantastic french vegetables etc. from the shops in Vence.

    The master bedroom is large as well, but even the smaller and somewhat darker second bedroom was quite okay for our two children.

    The apartment is conveniently located just outside the old city, so a five minute walk will take you to the middle of Vence with shops, restaurants etc.

    At the same time you have your own parking space just outside the apartment, which is very practical, and you are away from the noise of all the tourists in old Vence. The only noises in Les Chenes Verts came from the local boys playing football in the parking lot and the bells on the sheep in the field below the apartment building...
    Recommended for: Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

    Shirley Rodwell Our flat in Vence is our second home - and visitors always feel at home there.

    Having had the flat since 1991 we have grown to realise that we were lucky to decide to have our second home there as Vence has so much going for it. The restaurants in the area - and all along the coast, are of course renowned and our guests will find notes and recommendations from former visitors in the apartment.

    The area has the benefit of being in the foothills of the Alps whilst having the climate and proximity of the coast - and there is plenty to do and see in the region - museums for the artists who have lived in the vicinity, cultural events in Nice - and we have enjoyed opera in Gattiers where the village houses were the scenery, and wonderful concerts in Vence.
